Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Standard hotel with exceptional staff. Reception, restaurant, bar & breakfast staff are a credit to this hotel. We arrived quite late everyone, receptionist, restaurant manager & delightful waiting staff made it possible to have a 3 course meal! Breakfast staff next morning super friendly & helpful. Cannot sing their praises high enough. One downside issue was no fans available for the rooms - on a very humid night very small windows and no air con ! Keep up the great work !

We have stayed at this hotel before albeit a few years ago and was pleased to see it was still open as so many places we’ve visited have since closed since the pandemic. On arrival there is a car park with about 30 spaces on street level; accessed through an arch. There were barriers but the machine was broken so I just drove through but the receptionist did advise that parking is normally complimentary to hotel guests. The doors to the hotel are step free but the doors are manual. The receptionist that greeted me was very friendly and helpful and was happy to answer my questions. Our room was on the second floor and there was a small lift. The room was nice with all the things you’d expect: tea/ coffee, hairdryer, nice big bed and plenty of towels in the bathroom. The bed was firm but very comfortable; I did have a good nights sleep. The TV remote control had been cleaned and sealed in a bag which is a nice touch. Wi-Fi was really good which in most hotels is not the norm. We spent the evening in the bar. From reception there are a few steps into the bar area but there is also a ramp/ walkway to the dining area where you can also access the bar. We wanted to set up a tab to charge the room but was advised that you have to set that up at the bar so we just settled for running a tab and pay at the end of the night. The bar staff are excellent, great service, after the first round the barman brought our subsequent drinks to our table. Nice clean bar and bar area, can’t fault it. Breakfast was included in our booking and it’s served from 06:30-10:30. On arriving in the dining hall we were greeted by a pleasant lady who took our room number and offered us tea/ coffee before showing us to our table. All the usual stuff you’d expect, a selection of juices/ cereals, some fruit and a selection of hot food, including white and black pudding you just tell the chef what you want. I get the ferry from Dublin to Wales quite regular and get up at a ridiculous hour to drive to Dublin but as this is only 20/30 mins away from the port I will definitely stay here the night before. Overall a great stay. Helpful, friendly staff, nice room, bar on site and a great breakfast to start off our day.

This is a great place to stay when visiting Dublin. The train station is just a 5 min walk away and trains to the city are cheap, reliable, and frequent. The journey takes about 40 mins. Balbriggan itself is interesting to explore, with a nice beach and harbour, and lots of green areas for kids to run and play. The hotel is old fashioned, but in a good way. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was great and we also had a fantastic dinner in the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. We'd love to return one day!

Hotel was nice enough / spacious / bar staff good service / room clean. Only downside was breakfast, we had two rooms booked through booking.com, they told us we had breakfast included but next morning., said one of the rooms didn’t. Has to pay €24 There was lots of tables had space around them, but told us we needed to sit at a table that was set . Unfortunately, this was squashed in next to another table, and near a kind of wall, so I had to keep moving my friend out to go and get the food, on top of having to pay extra, was really not in a good mood. We should have been able to sit where was better for us and where we chose

This is a decent, comfortable hotel, classic style and in the center of the village, not far from the beach. Very close to the train station with easy access to Dublin. There is a good restaurant and bar with pub menu. The staff here is by FAR the best team I have encountered in a hotel in a while- super friendly, helpful, quick, attentive -amazing service! The bar had good live music. The hotel is on a busy road, so maybe a room towards the rear might be more quiet.

Stayed here for one night on the Bank holiday weekend. The whole experience was good from checkin to departure. It’s an old style/ traditional hotel with a lovely bar serving good quality food. The breakfast was very good with everything freshly cooked by the chef. Staff in reception, bar and dining areas was friendly and welcoming. The only negative was the bedroom. While big and clean it needs refurbishing, furniture is dated, empty space where fridge should be and out of order sign on the ironing board/press. Overall though a very good experience and would highly recommend.

Almost 2 Hours to be served our evening meal on the last night of our just go holiday. We waited and waited for our order to be taken. Instead of serving a table, for the starter they served everyone in the restaurant who ordered soup before serving the others with their choice of ceaser salad. Same process for the main course. Unacceptable wait before those who chose chicken were served, and that course was almost eaten before those that chose burger were served Many of our party left before the final course and coffe was served . 1 hour and 55 minutes this took On leaving the restaurant, I approached the manager who was sitting down.He rose as I asked if he was the manager (which he appeared to look pleased), I complained regarding the terrible service, his response was to turn around and sit back down without comment. Disgraceful.
