Our first 2 nights in Ireland were spent at the Bracken Court Hotel. The front desk ladies couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Our room was ready for us even though we arrived long before the 3:00 registration. We stayed in an Executive Suite. Well worth the little extra. The decor was a bit tired, but really the space of the room made up for it. Parking was free, be sure to practice small space parking, a bit challenging if you are visiting from Canada. A lovely breakfast each morning and the server so friendly. I return in a heartbeat, you will truly enjoy the engaging staff and the location. Not far from the airport, about 20 minutes and that was long enough driving with no sleep and the wrong side of the road. The beach is not far and other must see sights. Thanks for your welcoming hospitality. We'll be back I hope!

We toured Ireland by car staying in 4* & 3* hotels, guest houses, B&B's and pubs.
The was the worst hotel on our tour.
We stayed 3 nights and were allocated a room at the rear of the hotel (213?) which overlooked an over ground car park and derelict buildings. The upside was that we had 2 quiet nights sleep. The room was clean, comfortable bed and dated furniture.
Saturday night was awful. There was somekind of party going on in function rooms below us until 01.00am. At times we thought our bed was in the middle of the dance floor and then we had an hour or so of door banging and people from the party going from room to room. Awful. Your either a hotel or a function centre you can't be both.
Every morning we went down to breakfast we met a restaurant with tables loaded with dirty dishes. There were always 3 or 4 waitresses hiding behind the bakery counter but only one ever seemed to do any work. Every hotel, B&B or even pub that I have ever stayed in always clears away dishes from tables as they are used not just leave them to pile up and then not clear them for some time afterwards.
Finally on checkout 'extras' which I had not incurred were added to my bill. The duty manager removed them and apologised. Later that day I received a ping from my credit card company to say that an unauthorised charge had been made to my card by Bracken Court Hotel immediately this was followed by an email from Bracken Court attaching my invoice and the 'extras' I had not incurred. I threw an email back to Bracken Court and the duty manager immediately responded with a further apology that a member of staff had misunderstood his instructions and the unauthorised credit card charge had been cancelled.
Would I recommend Bracken Court? No Will I be returning? No

Very enjoyable Easter break for one adult and two young children. The family room had a double, two single and one sofa bed. The room was spacious with plenty of storage, a large bathroom, two TV's and mini fridge. Water pressure and temperature for the bath and shower was excellent and toiletries and towels were plentiful. We arrived early so our luggage was left in a storeroom. I told the receptionist that it was my childrens' first time staying at a hotel and she arranged for balloons in the room when we checked in. They were delighted! Dinner in the bar that evening was delicious and reasonably priced. breakfast was great - the chef made pancakes especially (kids are expecting this treatment all the time now!), staff members were so friendly. Carvery lunch was great. The car park is easily accessible and we were able to leave the car until later in the afternoon before we left for home. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

Bracken Court is very centrally located in Balbriggan with all of the local delights within walkable distance. If arriving by car they have underground parking facilities free of charge.
The lobby is charming with nice seating areas and the check-in was fast and efficient with very friendly staff. Also found on this floor is the bar and the restaurant.
The room allocated was a twin room. It was found at the end of a long corridor after a few twist and turns. This gives the impression the hotel was formed over many decades incorporating and growing across different buildings. Everything has the uniform decoration and ambiance and appears to have gone through a sympathetic modernisation to still hold its historic charm.
The bedroom was exceptionally large which on first impression was impressive. The two single beds nearly look lost. There was a seating area with comfy sofa, no doubt convertible into a sofa bed and then two arm chairs. There was wardrobe space and a vanity area with the excepted amenities. The bathroom was also large with both separate bath and shower - however this could do with modernisation as it is looking tired.
Although the size of the room is impressive it could be much more efficiently and effectively used, but that is the concern of the hotel. As it was at the top of the hotel the room suffered from a continual low hum and vibration. Much likes those acquainted with a cabin on a cruise ship. There was a sign indicating the iron and ironing board were out of order - much better to just remove these items. The room could also benefit from a mini fridge which would be expected in 4 star. The WiFi was of good strength but not fast in speed.
The bar was a quaint traditional offering which caters for the locals to. There was live music which was well enjoyed and the drinks prices are reasonable.
We did not partake of a meal in the restaurant but did have breakfast in the morning. This was a very pleasant affair. The staff were very friendly and the food on offer was very appealing. There was a good variety of both continental and cooked breakfast in a buffet style. The quantity and variety of the food was very pleasing but the quality of goods could be improved upon.
Overall this is a good hotel with a nice traditional feel. It has aged well but slightly tired in places. The friendly staff, location and charm makes up for any shortcomings

We had an overnight stay booked with sparkling afternoon tea at this hotel and I can’t recommend it more highly. First class treatment by their friendly staff and the food was delicious. Lauren and Georgina in the restaurant were lovely and Donna at reception was also very friendly and helpful when we checked in. We enjoyed the three course meal during our stay and the proper spacing was in place due to the current pandemic. We felt safe and all necessary precautions were in place throughout the hotel. They also provided chocolates and balloons for my cousins arrival as we were celebrating her belated 30th birthday. This was a really nice touch and very much appreciated. This was my second stay at the Hotel and I hope to be back again to this family run business. Thank you!

We have stayed at this hotel before albeit a few years ago and was pleased to see it was still open as so many places we’ve visited have since closed since the pandemic.

On arrival there is a car park with about 30 spaces on street level; accessed through an arch. There were barriers but the machine was broken so I just drove through but the receptionist did advise that parking is normally complimentary to hotel guests.

The doors to the hotel are step free but the doors are manual.

The receptionist that greeted me was very friendly and helpful and was happy to answer my questions.

Our room was on the second floor and there was a small lift. The room was nice with all the things you’d expect: tea/ coffee, hairdryer, nice big bed and plenty of towels in the bathroom. The bed was firm but very comfortable; I did have a good nights sleep.

The TV remote control had been cleaned and sealed in a bag which is a nice touch.

Wi-Fi was really good which in most hotels is not the norm.

We spent the evening in the bar. From reception there are a few steps into the bar area but there is also a ramp/ walkway to the dining area where you can also access the bar.

We wanted to set up a tab to charge the room but was advised that you have to set that up at the bar so we just settled for running a tab and pay at the end of the night. The bar staff are excellent, great service, after the first round the barman brought our subsequent drinks to our table. Nice clean bar and bar area, can’t fault it.

Breakfast was included in our booking and it’s served from 06:30-10:30. On arriving in the dining hall we were greeted by a pleasant lady who took our room number and offered us tea/ coffee before showing us to our table.

All the usual stuff you’d expect, a selection of juices/ cereals, some fruit and a selection of hot food, including white and black pudding you just tell the chef what you want.

I get the ferry from Dublin to Wales quite regular and get up at a ridiculous hour to drive to Dublin but as this is only 20/30 mins away from the port I will definitely stay here the night before.

Overall a great stay. Helpful, friendly staff, nice room, bar on site and a great breakfast to start off our day.

Once again a lovely stay in this hotel. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, they cannot do enough for you. You always get a lovely greeting. It is always clean and the rooms are very comfortable indeed.
All the food we had either in the bar, restaurant or breakfast was extremely tasty and very good value.
The location is ideal for the town and local beach and amenities, and the local transport makes it within easy reach of Dublin or the airport.
Hopefully it won't be long before we return again

The staff at reception were very nice, though we did not see much of them.
We went to our room to find that the furniture is dated ; the fridge in the room does not work ; there had been an advertised safe but that does not work (we were told the hotel is waiting for them to be upgraded).
We went for dinner, and were sent into the restaurant where the menu is same as the bar, which is a bit strange. I ordered the lasagne and found that it was ok but would have been better if they had not over done the top, which caused it all to stick to the bowl and become rock hard.
We ordered breakfast to our room the next morning, all of our plates were cold so our breakfast was not warm at all.
With the bathroom the shower does not work properly, as you cannot even wash your hair due to the fact that the water comes out very far back on the taps. The hairdryer in the bathroom is very dated and the one in the drawer in the bedroom did not even work.in general this stay was not worth the money hopefully things have inproved since 2020

Stayed here , on a Thursday night, whilst attending the Laytown Races, roughly 9 miles up the coast.
First thing first, if you like a modern hotel(straight lines/plenty of glass/ modern facilities) then this is probably not the place for you. However if you like a classic, comfortable, customer friendly/focused hotel, then you'll love it.
We arrived mid-morning, well before the check-in time, explaining we were here for the races, the excellent receptionist offered to look after our bags. We had booked bed, breakfast and dinner, we explained that, it would be touch and go that we might not make dinner, she immediately offered us a three course lunch, as a alternative.
After a walk around the little harbour and small beach , we returned for our lunch. All three courses of food was plentiful and delicious , the main a carvery, whilst it was self-service the waitress was obliging and witty, a great ambassador for the hotel.
After lunch , the receptionist, imformed us that our rooms, were ready. Mine was very large a double and single bed, sofa and chair, walk in area with wardrobe plus a bathroom with bath and seperate shower(plenty of hot water and toiletries).
After the racing , we returned to the hotel and entered it's attached pub, Jack Doyle's Bar, there was football on the TV's, plenty of drinks on offer and again top notch service.
After a great night's slept we headed down for a superb breakfast, plenty of variety, help yourself to juices/ cereals/ yoghurts, etc, The chef served up the full Irish breakfast and another but equally, welcoming waitress, as every other staff member we encountered,, brought us our tea/coffee.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay, in a hotel , that seems to pride itself, in customer service and relaxed, informal atmosphere.
Racing or no racing, I will definitely return to the Bracken Court.

To the front if the airport on the left the 101 bus to Drogheda goes about every 20 minutes , the stop nearest the Brackencourt hotel 8s 150 yards away outside the community centre. The bus has a screen at the front advising which stop is next . It is a very good service from early morning to later but then it runs hourly

The van won’t fit in underground car park but there is parking bay directly in front of the hotel door you might be able to park in but I would phone the hotel and check first

Balbriggan is a little far to be using a taxi service daily to Dublin. Either rent a car or stay inside Dublin. Remember the exchange rate, dollar to euro. This would get rather expensive quickly
