Any time we go to ballyboffey we stop at this hotel as its always been nice to stop at it was 4 15 as I brought in my mam on wheelchair first then went to park the car when I got in we asked for food they said no service I explained I was diabetic and needed to inject insulin and cud we even get a sandwich bar man was very unhelpful I don't know if we will return again we ended up getting a pot of tea very disappointing visit as we had to stop elsewhere which is awkward with mam on wheelchair
Relaxing stay at this beautiful hotel...gorgeous spa with lovely staff and fabulous treatments. Felt so relaxed afterwards. Decorated beautifully and very comfortable. Really enjoyed thermal suite. Will definitely return!
My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary in August 20-22. The welcome was warm and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was equally large and there was plenty of hot water. We were gifted an afternoon tea which went down a treat. Also we’d Netflix which delighted my husband. We had breakfast and what a choice of delicious food. A wonderful stay was had and we would highly recommend staying here.
Hi just came back from the villa rose hotel and had a wonderful weekend break, when we arrived there was a wedding on in the hotel and there was a buss in the place. We were very warmly welcomed and gave our room card and when we got to our room it was clean, comfy and had tea coffee and a pkt of ginger biscuits awaiting us. Shortly after arriving and feeling hungry we wondered down to the Forge bar after making a 7 o'clock booking at reception when booking in, the bar was quite busy as you can imagine with lots of wedding guests and guests just staying at the hotel. We were shown to a table which was a little cramped but that was fine and when we ordered our meal we told the hotel that i was under going cancer treatment snd had to have my lower teeth removed. The hotel were very good in catering for my needs snd blended my food so i could eat it in comfort as my cancer was throat and mouth. They told me if there was anything at all they could do to make my stay more comfortable just to say. I would also like to say the breakfast choice was very good and again the staff were so kind but i would like to mention a staff member who went above and beyond in looking after us in our stay and his name was Oisin.…
This hotel is quite modern, compared other hotels in county Donegal. The fixtures are more up-to-date which, for me, is a useful and a good thing. The Villa Rose is certainly one of the better hotels in county Donegal. i found the receptionist that handled my reservation to very helpful and patient. Also, the manager that was on duty for that evening was also very helpful. The only negative about this hotel was that noise transferred very easily into the room. Some of guests appear not to care in the slightest about imposing their personal lives, their banalities and their children's noise upon you ..... treating a hotel room as though it were their living room, instead of a room in /a public space/. Can these people not encourage their children to /read books/ and read quietly? Reading nourishes the mind. For the general help and the friendliness of the hotel workers, i rate this hotel highly. christopher…
Hotel is spotlessly clean.all staff bar 2 were very helpful and pleasant.food in the forge bar was excellent.breakfast on the other hand left a lot to be desired.hot food WAS NOT hot..waited almost 15 minutes for eggs to come out after asking 2 different staff.the next morning there were no eggs at all.and its not as if we were last or late,we arrived at 7.45 each day. We were almost finished eating on 2 mornings before the hot drinks came out. The selection if cereals and breads was very poor.condiments were in tiny OPEN dishes.no fresh fruit. Wasn't impressed that the bar closed to residents at 11pm.the bed and pillows were as hard as the road.
It is a nice hotel staff are pleasant and efficient (apart from the problems I had with reservations). It just didn't work for us on a special Anniversary....30th.... Having stayed there several weekends albeit 10 years ago we thought it would be ideal for our Anniversary....Nice hotel, plenty in Ballybofey etc..... My problems began when I booked on line....I then phoned the hotel to prepay...I quoted the reservation number and they couldn't find it....and suggested I try again...so I booked on line again.....this time......2 bookings were there so the reservation staff told me they would cancel one and proceeded with the payment in full. The next morning I got an email telling me that they had received a payment but there was no booking and they would hold the payment until I advised them otherwise...so I phoned the hotel for the 4th time..... The Scottish girl on reservation who I spoke to the day before after apologising blamed me for cancelling but took reservation over the phone...I told her I have asthma and mobility issues and use a walking stick so need a room close to amenities...she said that is easily sorted. We dully arrived on 4 August and got directions to room....not close to amenities or lifts....in fact...the furthest away....out of lifts through 2 sets of double doors and at the bottom...beside the fire escape..... The room was nice...well appointed and double aspect but the distances were challenging...dinner in the bar that night's lovely....service a bit slow...it shouldn't take 2 people 25 mind to get you a drink Breakfast next morning caused another issue....our room which was the furthest away...beside the Gaelic pitch entrance was a 2 day camel ride away from the Breakfast room back in the older part of hotel....easier accessed by going out of hotel up an alleyway onto Main Street and in through the other door. Had to stand in as 2 cars came down the narrow alleyway....You don't expect to get knocked down on your way to breakfast....... We decided to get out as soon as possible and on checking out my wife commented on my immobility and distance and the receptionist said she would note it for the next time There WON'T be a next time…
Villa Rose Hotel was the perfect spot for my short break...the hotel itself is conveniently located and is beautiful in its decor...lots of parking...spotlessly clean throughout...really comfortable, nicely decorated bedroom. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. The breakfast was gorgeous, with lots of it! The Spa was a bit of heaven here on earth.
Myself and my friends stayed here for 2 nights (midweek). I honestly couldn’t fault this place, the staff, facilities and food were fantastic. We spent the day in the spa and were treated brilliantly. No request went unanswered and to be honest my only problem is that they don’t have another hotel closer to me. We will be back!
Ate in the restaurant Saturday evening. We had an excellent meal. I had the arancini to start and he was given a taster of the soup as didn't want a starter which was a lovely touch. I had the chicken supreme which was delicious and my partner had the fillet steak. He said it was cooked really nice. He then had chocolate pudding and I had the creme brulee. The only negative I would have to say is the shortbread alongside the creme brulee was not appetizing at all, it tasted like pastry. We will be back though and will recommend !
