Just back after spending 2 wks camping it’s our second year going and can’t wait for next year already. A fab warm welcome and loads of Info from Elaine and Sally and two lovely new staff too that were so helpful too sorry not remembering names! Great big pitch with electric and plenty of water taps around. Came home with all my laundry washed and dried great laundry room with washers and dryers and clothes line outside it too. Two kitchens for washing up fridges freezers microwave chill out room too. Facilities were always spotless cleaned regularly even over the busy aug bank holiday and showers included is a big hit with 5 of us.. The kids loved the new addition of Sally’s crepe van yummy crepes the queue was testament! Our 10 year old and 12 year old spent hours at the playground with friends and new friends Teen more bored wouldn’t mix but once friends arrived enjoyed it so much more with company her age! There was great excitement with the Icecream van arriving too on different days. Curfew is great playground closes at 10 and all quiet by 11. No issue staying up past once you are quiet.

Fab area for exploring west cork. Some of our favs to note Kinsale and Wednesday markets was a lovely day, Inchadonney beach note you are better going midweek for parking here, Red strand beach lovely clean waters Dunworley Beach too. Crab fishing on Courtmacsherry pier was a huge hit even with our 14yr old returned numerous times at high tide and we had a great day here too on the little beach doing stand up paddle boards and kayaking great camps there too apparently. Clonakilty park hotel high ropes free fall and wall climbing is another great day out and so reasonable . Secret garden is ten minutes from the site and such a fab day out but bring old clothes and runners to bin. Great outdoor showers for after and Fab food truck there and kids activity included pizza €17 per head hours of muddy fun rainy days too! Had fab food in the pink elephant dining in on a very wet evening 15 mins away. Scannells in clonakilty no booking fab food and huge outdoor area Casey’s too food was a hit.

Highly recommend thanks again Elaine and Sally for an amazing staycation 2021 can’t wait for next year already

Spent two nights camping in the Sextons. Fabulous spot and a great welcome from Elaine and Sally. The site is extremely well managed for Covid, with visible controls around cleaning routines in the toilet/shower blocks/campers kitchen along with access control.
Great place giving access to a fabulous part of the world.

Myself and my partner and a few of our good friends stayed in sextons for two nights on Friday 16th July to Sunday 18th. My partner and I arrived first after a long drive from Tipperary and were pleasantly suprised by how quaint, pretty and welcoming the site was on arrival. It was perfectly tidy and had beautiful displays of flowers and vintage signage and antiquities dotted about. The owner Elaine met us at the office and I can honestly say after having camped in almost every site in Ireland over the past 5 years, weve never received such a warm welcome at a campsite. Elaine went through all the local attractions and sights worth visiting, gave recommendations for local food and drink spots, takeaway, restaurants, taxi numbers, even good routes we could take our dog walking on in the locality. She gave us our choice of pitches as we had 3 tent pitches booked and she made sure we would all be together. We had no cash on us to pay on arrival as they don't accept card, but there was no issue whatsoever she was so accommodating and we paid the next day having found an atm. On our 2nd day, my partner had injured his foot at the beach and Elaine noticed him limping, she went out of her way to source a walking stick to help him get around and dropped it to out tent personally. We couldn't get over sextons go out of their way to look after their guests

In regards to the actual amenities, the site is beautifully kept, its clean tidy and full of old Irish character. The showers are free and there are fridges freezers and laundry facilities for campers to use as needed. I would recommend this site for anyone needing a perfect base from which to explore the beauty of this part west Cork. A car is essential of course as the campsite is in a rural area.

Would highly recommend Sextons, a home away from home

Sextons is as neat and tidy a site that you will find. The staff are friendly and the kids enjoyed playing at the pirate playground. there was always hot water for showers and dishes. Thats the positives. On the negative side, there are only two showers each for males and females in the whole site. There are no urinals in the men's toilets, just four tightly packed toilets ( the showers are located in the mens toilets also so expect some ques for the toilets/showers in the evening and morning. There is only one tap on a wall for fresh drinking water for the whole campsite. There is no security at night at the site, cars can drive in and around the site at any time of day or night, no coded gates or barriers etc. A single kettle and toaster in the washup room don't work and a single small fridge freezer for ice packs etc was totally inadequate. As this site was not a walking distance to any shop or village, they could do with stocking a little shop with milk etc for the campers. Overall, this site lacks much character and certainly lacks in camping amenities compared to other sites.

Response from Elaine Sexton, General Manager at Sextons Caravan and Camping Park
Responded 9 Jul 2021
Hi Colinfitz1978 Thank you for taking the time to review us after your stay this week . Delighted to hear you found our facilities neat and tidy and kids enjoyed our our recently upgraded playground . We have amazing staff who are always delighted to help out with anything . We would love to clarify your negatives as all of them are factually incorrect . Due to all the COVID 19 Failte Ireland Guidelines that we are following from last year depending on which area you are camping in , you are allocated on arrival the same shower / toilet block for your entire stay . You were allocated the front area for your family’s stay . There is a whole other block behind reception which obviously you didn’t see including ladies / gents toilets / showers / urinals and also a full family wetroom with disabled access .we have not witnessed any family waiting more than a few minutes at peak times . We recently completed a massive ground works water / electrics project and currently there are 27 taps if not more dotted around the park . Starting from the June bank holiday there is always staff members staying on site available 24/7 and are all very aware of any cars coming in after hours and also CCTV . Our Guests safety is top priority. Finally there are 2 fridge freezers plus separate fridge , working kettle / microwave /Toaster and plug points in our kitchen / sitting room areas . Due to lack of space in our reception area and COVID restrictions we don’t stock any provisions onsite this year. Our local Centra is just 5 minutes down the road and we always have a spare pint of milk for anyone who’s stuck. Thanks again for taking time to review and our detailed response is for benefit of all future customers, Kind Regards Elaine and all the team in Sextons

My family love this campsite, this was our second time staying here and I really can't recommend it highly enough. Elaine & Sally are very friendly and made us feel very welcome - they always have time to say hello or stop for a chat. We've stayed at lots of campsites and find it hard to beat this one for its lovely, friendly vibe. The playground is great for both older and younger kids, plus there's lots to do in the surrounding area. Timoleague & Courtmacsharry are lovely villages, linked by a great cycle/walking path. Covid precautions were well implemented at Sextons and toilets etc are spotless. Will definitely return

I should have written this review long time ago. Sextons’s is our escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, we regularly head there for weekends and find our stay so relaxing. There is a wonderful warm and friendly welcome from Elaine and all the staff all of whom make you feel special. They are always around to help with any queries or offer advice on local restaurants or bars. Facilities are spotless and you can see the owners take great pride in this long established camp site. Pitches are clean and well serviced. The site caters for families and couples and well behaved singles and is quiet at night. There is a playground for the kiddies. Pets are welcome so long as kept under control which is right. The site location makes it an ideal base to explore wonderful West Cork.
I can say hand on heart that I would strongly recommend Sextons Caravan and Camping Park

We spent 7 nights at Sextons & had a great time. Pitch close to the playground which was great for the age of our kids. Site is full of reminders on COVID safety including that campers kitchen & toilet blocks could only have one person unless part of same family unit. Lots of sanitisers about & regular cleaning. And given international travel restrictions currently in place we were delighted with current policy that they were only taking bookings from people currently living in Ireland. They are firm with one noisy group late at night during our visit, great to see noise curfew being enforced. Elaine & her sister gave us great advise on the locality, a great base to explore West Cork. We enjoyed the model village in Clonakilty, a trip to Cape Clear & Fastnet, Charles Fort in Kinsale, walks around Cormacksherry & the lovely local beaches just a few mins drive. We plan to be back.

What a brilliant campsite!! I originally booked for 1 weeks and ended up staying most of the summer! The site gives great access to the wonders of West Cork and a selection of beaches close by to choose from.
Re the site itself, very well run by the Owner Elaine & staff Rebecca, Mary and everyone else (her parents who live in the main house are also around for the friendly chats, gotta love Mags!)Elaine the owner gave us great advice on what to do and what's on around the area. Staff take no messing which, for me, is great for a family campsite. Its noise down by 10;30pm, personally, I think this is great as many people flock to campsites for this and its a rarity in many of todays sites. So if you are a family or some guests looking for a relaxing camping experience then this site is for you. If your chasing a few late party nights on site, there are other sites to better serve your needs. The curfew was adhered to by ALL residents and enforced by the owners which was brilliant given we were pitched right next to the playground and like a switch...silence..which really helps to get the kids back inside and settled before another day of fun!
Amenities on the site are very good, wifi available up and around the reception area. Toilets are always clean, showers are FREE and also always clean, no matter how busy the site may be. The playground is really nice for the kids and they have plenty of space to run around. Kids loved to just go off to playground and meet all the other children. Small enough site to keep a eye on the kids, but big enough to not be on top of each others pitches. Water is close to all the pitches and electricity hook ups are at every pitch. There is a food truck onsite that does breakfast and evening food, and an ice-cream van that calls every evening. Small shop in the reception that sells some sweets, very reasonably priced! Anything else that you may need there is a Centra shop just a few miles up the road.
All in all, this was a top class trip and one of the best we've had, my children had a ball which made my stay a hell of a lot easier, couldn't recommend this campsite and location enough, already counting down the days for when we can come back here again!!!

Our family stayed here or 14 nights in July and we absolutely loved it. Toilets/Campers Kitchen/Showers cleaned continuously (we never saw them dirty). It was great to have washing machine/dryer available!
There was heaps of hot water for free showers. Excellent playground for children, the had so much fun making new friends there.
The staff were incredibly helpful (Elaine & Rebecca) giving us great tips on local beaches & restaurants and the crepe wagon on the Saturday was a really nice touch.
The pitches are large and flat - lots of available water points and stable EHU that doesn't trip! The view in the campsite are superb and while rural, the location is only a short drive into either Timoleague or Clonakilty.
We loved our trip here and I've no doubt that we will be back again!

We arrived for 6 nights me and my friend to be joined by 3 other friends on the weekend. We had nothing but fun... Elaine and her friend Sally were great,Elaine was so nice and helpful on check in and they gave us so much advice during our stay.
We took every piece of it from beaches, restaurants, food and every one of them hit the nail on the head and made our week even more memorable.
I would 100% reccomend this campsite to families and friends it is welcoming to all, and have to say during Covid 19 the toilet facilities and campsite were very clean, and protocols adhered to.
Elaine looks after her campers and ensures everyone has there fun but also that things are fair, which is great as there are families and small kids on the camp aswell as young campers so it does cater for all.
So last but not least thanks to Elaine and we will hopefully see you again in the future....elaine and dee 😊😊😊
