I was initially greeted by Jake.. The dog.. who seemed delighted to meet up. Susan the owner then followed up with an equally warm welcome. My room overlooked the lake and was very comfortable with a superb en suite. The whole place was spotless. The breakfast was eggcellent with the hens on site supplying the produce. Home baked bread and a wonderful breakfast room completed my stay. As a yearly visitor to Dunmanway I would be delighted to stay here again. John R
This place is truly second-to-none and is perfect in every respect. We stayed here for ten days and loved every night. Susan was incredibly friendly and there was just the right mixture of the personal touch and the professional expertise. The baking and breakfasts were fantastic, the rooms were huge and everything was spotlessly clean. We met Susan's husband Gordon too, who was very friendly and showed us around the farm. Jake (the dog) was lovely too, so long as you don't mind being licked :) The breakfast room was sun-filled and had a great view. Susan tailored the breakfast every day to whatever we wanted. It'd be worth going back just for her homemade bread! We didn't try swimming or kayaking in the lake, although that would have been a good idea given the hot weather. Dunmanway itself is a nice little town, but the true gems in the wider area are the towns and villages on the coast. It's a good location because it's in the middle of west Cork, so all points on the coast are the same distance away. The only downside is that the coast is 30...60 minutes drive away. I'd have absolutely no hesitation about going back here and can't recommend it highly enough.…
My family stayed for four nights in beautiful Lake House B&B. Our hosts Susan and Gordon were so welcoming and helpful, and Susan's homebaking was superb. The breakfast and extra goodies in the evening were delicious. The rooms were all spacious, modern and spotlessly clean. We would highly recommend the Lake House and hope to return again.
This delightful place was 5 minutes from the little village of Dunmanway and had plenty of shops, a good café, a pizza bar with other takeaway offered and a couple of chemists and supermarkets. The Lake House is in a lovely quiet location with a lake to look out at from the conservatory/breakfast room. Susan was a perfect host and cooked us lovely breakfasts. She always had some cookies for us to try. Her soda bread was divine too. Her husband Gordon had a bit to do out in the paddock on the tractor and had one day out at a huge farmers' market but always found some time for a chat. Our room was immaculate, with everything provided for. There was a fridge on the landing we could leave drinks or cheese in. We had tea and coffee making facilities in our room. The bedroom window looked out on to a small meadow with a couple of dozen chickens residing there, sometimes wandering in to their own B&B, a very cute roosting house. Jake the dog liked you to go out the front and play tug of war. He was a character. I came down with a chesty cough and Susan bought me some ultra soft tissues, bless her. We were sorry to leave, 3 nights was just not enough. We hope to meet up with Susan and Gordon again some day.…
What can we say, everything about this place was superb! The house itself is gorgeous, sitting on a small private lake. The hosts - Susan and Gordon (and Jack the dog) - were so lovely, welcoming and eager to help and make our stay there a vacation we won't forget. From giving us advice where to tour or letting us enjoy some nice activities on their ground (Gordon knows what we liked the most! :)). The breakfast, made per order, by Susan was delicious. The room we got was big and very clean and can easily accommodate 4 people. It had decent size in-room bathroom and like small powder room. The beds were so comfortable so it felt like sleeping on a cloud :) Thank you Susan, Gordon and Jack, we really enjoyed our stay with you! P.S: Arriving there late at night (it wasn't an issue at all with that with the hosts - they waited for us) required us to drive through narrow roads in the dark. So it is highly recommended to consult with the hosts prior to coming and plan your drive or use GPS, while not taking the shorter distance but rather major roads that are easier to drive…
