Detailed Reviews
Great B&B between Carlow and Kilkenny. Mairead and Tony were fantastic hosts and offered us lifts to local restaurants and offered us great accommodation, food and really care for their guests. The breakfast we were served was probably then best we’d enjoyed in Ireland and UK - Greg, homegrown chooks with eggs that were so good plus traditional Irish or omelette made it special. Comfortable rooms and lovely house. If you’re passing thru this area I’d highly recommend staying at orchard Grove instead of staying in a smell hotel room in Kilkenny or Carlow.

Mairead and Tony were perfectly charming hosts during our stay at Orchard Grove B&B. After unpacking, Mairead suggested that we try The Lord Bagenal in Leighlinbridge, 2.5 miles away, for dinner. It’s a lovely inn on the banks of the River Barrow in county Carlow, which serves a carvery lunch or a la carte menu depending on the time of day. After a very peaceful night (we were the only guests) we were treated to a delicious breakfast of yogurt, fruit, cheeses, fresh breads and scones, and our choice of several fresh-from-their-chickens egg based dishes. I chose scrambled eggs with smoked salmon both mornings because it was so tasty! We planned to visit Kilkenny, Rock of Cashel, and Waterford the day after our arrival, and Mairead suggested that we also stop in the seaside town of Dunmore East. It was an excellent idea, where we found a wonderful restaurant called The Strand Inn, which served delicious fish. During our second night, all rooms at the Orchard Grove B&B were full, but we never heard a sound from anyone, until we met our fellow travelers at breakfast on our final morning and participated in interesting conversations. Our room, as well as the rest of the B&B, was tastefully decorated, and we felt very comfortable during our stay.

Lovely B&B out of town in a quiet location. Nice room with comfortable beds and good quality bedding and towels. Breakfast was wonderful with a really good choice including fresh fruit, juice, meats, cheese and cereals followed by a huge Irish cooked breakfast accompanied by a basket of mixed toast, soda bread and scones. We didn’t need to eat again till dinner thot night. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and suggested a canal side walk we’d never have found ourselves and a local hotel for our evening meal.

+1
We stayed here in a 2 bed apartment adjacent to the bed and breakfast which is in the main house. It is fully self contained with an en suite in each bedroom. The beds are so comfortable and I had the best weeks sleep! There is a washer/dryer which came in very handy. Fast broadband and a good selection of TV channels. Tony and Mairead are excellent hosts and they provided a welcome pack of food. We also had the breakfast one of the days and it was delicious. Would stay again without a doubt. And Fred the donkey was a real bonus. Bring polo’s and carrots!

I absolutely loved staying here. The couple that runs the place (and their little dog Sam) were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. Lots of toiletries and a hair dryer which was appreciated. The breakfast was fantastic! The fresh, homemade scones and jam were my favourite part, though everything was delicious.
I would highly recommend staying here!

A very welcoming host, who even booked us a table at a nearby restaurant since we checked-in late in the evening. Room was comfortable and clean. A very good choice of food and drinks for breakfast, and delicious too!

We received such an incredible warm welcome from Mairead and Tony ! They really could not have done more for us from booking us dinner in a nearby hotel to bringing us to and from our canoe. The house is lovely and the breakfast is fantastic ... we will definitely stay there again if we are in the area !

Friendly attitude of both Tony and Mairéad really made it felt like our own home. Travel to Kilkenny Town, nearby restaurants and train station was done by Tony. It made us so easy to go through the places in Kilkenny and Bagenalstown. Thank you so much for making our trip a memorable one. I highly appreciate your cooperation and recommended to all who visits Bagenalstown and Kilkenny.

Wow! We could not have been happier with our stay! Mariead and Tony are fabulous hosts. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. One of the best B&B experiences we’ve had in all our years of travelling. We have no hesitation in recommending this place.

A terrible place, cold, depressing and beside a motorway...And you will be awaken at 5.00am by people who sound like they are wrecking the kitchen below.
I was very bemused by a sign that asked guests to re use towels....Even more so when the towels I left to be CHANGED were re hung on the towel rack....
Hairs in the bath, a drafty dull room and a really poor atmosphere, not to mention a very cold and bleak breakfast room.
I dont know how this JOINT has not got a bad review before.
