Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our oldest friends had their wedding blessing and children's baptism at the local church and the subsequent celebration party at the hotel. We had booked in for the night before, the night of the celebrations and the night after. From the moment I had contacted the hotel about a query on my booking to the moment I checked out, I could not fault the helpfulness of all members of staff at the hotel. We arrived early, and fortunately our rooms were ready. Our rooms were located near the other guests attending the celebration, they were clean, comfortable, if a little dated. The bar/beverage staff were brilliant, even when busy they were willing to check with the kitchen to see what vegetarian alternative they could do for a fussy 13 year old. Initially, the celebration was to be held outside, but due to the weather, the hotel quickly swapped to the large function room, they had everything set up beautifully before we returned from the church. After the celebration party finished up stairs, we moved down to the public bar where live music was playing. The singer was amazing and the atmosphere electric. All in all, the hotel could not do enough to make a family celebration weekend a weekend which we will all remember. Special thanks go to Seline, Emma, Linda and Conal and to all the waitering staff (especially the head waitress in the evenings, sorry, but I did not catch your name) We will be back

Stopped off for food and were constantly attacked and pestered by large black flies. Landing in our food/ plates and the table and seats. This was indoors and I get the place is by a lake and therefore flies are plentiful- however for this reason they should be up on pest & insect control. The bar area is quite large but there were no UV insect repellent lights anywhere. This has been a problem for us on previous visits so the staff are well aware of it but don’t seem to do anything about it. Other than that the food was average and the service friendly. The place is in a beautiful setting and in dire need of a complete clean and update of interior/exterior .

We called in on spec and were warmly welcomed. The staff are lovely, helpful and courteous. While the bar food menu was small, it had all the usual's on it. The food itself was excellent and is good value for money. The décor is dated but the hotel facilities are spotless and well maintained. In fact I enjoyed being transported to the 1980s! I would definitely stay again.

We booked this Hotel in February as we were attending a wedding in another venue we arrived to the Hotel about 1pm our room was not ready we had informed the Hotel previously that we needed the room for 1pm and we received an email to confirm that they would be able to accommodate us. We eventually got the room and just left our over night case there we then proceeded to the Wedding Venue .We returned to the Hotel approx 1.45 am and approx 3.45 am I heard shouting loud noises it was like someone in the Room it was coming from next door we were in adjoining Room this couple decided to have a shouting match it was like they were actually in the room with us it was dreadful did not sleep all night. The snoring started then and continued.Next morning I complained at Checkout Desk but was told she was just checking people out so after a number of emails to the Hotel this Lady rang me back to tell me that she would have a word with Reception to insure that this would not happen again no word of apology no refund of monies nothing we certainly did not book an adjoining Room .Do not stay here the views from the Hotel are fab but a very disappointing situation for our very first visit to Cavan.DO NOT STAY THERE END OFF

Sold themselves out for refugee hotel. My parents went as a present for their anniversary, paid extra for a special dinner and night away it was far from that! 14 emails over and back and never once mentioned anything. The reception was basically a sitting room people thrown around the place kids throwing ball and lying across stairways .. if you are looking to feel comfortable and a nice night away I would avoid this place! I emailed them over a week ago to Express my concerns and no reply if they even had the decency to reply I would not leave this review as I have never left a negative review as it can be damaging to their reputation but in this case it is truly deserving!

Could not recommend this hotel enough. Every member of staff was professional and friendly. The room was spotless. The view is amazing. Food was pretty good also. Pop down to the museum at Ballyjamesduff, very interesting.

From the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful and friendly. We had a lake view room on the 1st floor which had a small balcony. The view was absolutely amazing the sunset was spectacular. Breakfast selection was fantastic with a great variety of cold buffet as well as a hot food menu. The bar staff were so friendly with a particular mention for Samuel who provided great service even when it was busy. Patrica was also very efficient at her job. The only down side of our visit was the diner menu selection was limited more variety would help. That said we still enjoyed the craic and got enough food to do. We will definitely be back for many visits in the future.
