The Oliver hit all the right buttons for us: a beautifully-executed, nearly-new hotel inside an historic building, caring (and tres-hip, millennial) staff, nice touches (ice and house made chocolate treats delivered to rooms in the evening) and located right in the heart of entertainment and great restaurants. We were bowled over by the entire experience, and loved watching our craft...

We booked an overnight stay in December. We were seeing a show at Tennessee Theatre. The Oliver is roomy, clean and everything you would expect from a boutique hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were able to make the most of our time by being in walking distance of restaurants and shopping.

I loved everything about The Oliver. I was on business but felt like a little vacation get away. The "smallness" of the hotel reminded me of a small European hotel. Front desk and valet (names escape me now) were fantastic. Knew our names, room numbers, car, etc. When we arrived we only had about an hour before we had to...

We had an excellent stay here. We rented two rooms, one suite and one double bed. Both rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. (also love the direct tv satellite) The front desk staff was amazing upon our arrival, as our rooms weren't ready yet (we were early) we were travelling with an infant, it was raining, and we were in...

I have always wanted to try this hotel after seeing it while visiting my daughter who is a student at UTK. So this time we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint! I am spoiled now and don't want to stay anywhere else. Valet parking was awesome. I would call from my room and my car...

We live in Knoxville and decided to treat ourselves to a night downtown! We enjoyed a concert and an amazing dinner. The hotel is centrally located and absolutely lovely. The staff was fabulous! Treat yourself!

I always stay at the Oliver when I'm in Knoxville - which is often. I love the old-time comfort, the understated luxury, scale (only 2 flights of stairs to the top), the great location, the friendly and always-accommodating staff.

Being from Austin, we have certain tastes. For the 26th anniversary, we stayed at the Oliver. Think Driskill form back in the day. Upscale hotel, boutique rooms, great amenities, walk to some great bars and restaurants. If you've done Knoxville without it, you haven't done Knoxville.

Where do I start?! We decided to stay downtown for our 10 year anniversary, but had never stayed at The Oliver. Friends had told us it was amazing and that they really took care of the guests. We stayed in the honeymoon suite. It was amazing! My wife and I have three children, so having some real space (super high...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the heart of Knoxville just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Market Square, The Oliver Hotel is an original expression of the city. Originally built in 1876 as the Peter Kern Bakery, the building had hosted everything from the Kern's candy counter and soda fountain to a drugstore, and dancing hall. In 2011, the property was renovated into what is now Knoxville's best boutique hotel with a style that plays tribute to the buildings history, while offering guests rooms with charm, sophistication, and modern amenities. The property features the Peter Kern Library Bar, a craft cocktail lounge; Tupelo Honey Cafe, an award winning restaurant; and Oliver Royale Restaurant, featuring a chef driven menu and bar. ... more   less
