I would not recommend staying here! My friend booked this room, and because we are under a pandemic she called them before booking to make sure they had breakfast, which they said they did. So when we checked in, we specifically asked the front desk clerk about breakfast, we were told they still had breakfast and coffee and it ended at 9am. So off we went to our rooms. We get to this room and half of the electricity didn’t work, the bathroom light, all the lamps, the only thing that worked was overhead lights, so we went back to the front desk and got a new room. New room: was a smoking room, even though we asked for a non smoking, the room had a strong odor of mildew, and upon further inspection we find mold and mildew all over the walls, and you could tell the headboard wasn’t washed because there was someone’s head mark! So off we went again to the front desk, and got another room. This room was cleaner, but we find out there is no remote for the TV, so we called to the front desk, and they brought us one. Here’s the BEST part: I wake up in the morning to go get coffee for myself and my friend, and start walking to the breakfast area where I was told by the men at the front desk that there was no breakfast. I thought because I was 10 minutes before 9 that they closed it early, and asked about that and I was told “because of the pandemic we don’t serve breakfast”!! So I expressed to him, in not so nice of a way because I had not had coffee yet, that this hotel is a s*ithole, and that his desk clerk from yesterday specifically told us that you have breakfast AND coffee, and that there is no coffee machine in the rooms. They just looked at me like I was crazy and said “this is an Econolodge, there is no need for coffee in the room” and I said, BUT YOU DONT EVEN HAVE COFFEE IN THE LOBBY! In addition to all of this mess, every time myself or my friend would stand on the patio, we would have sketchy looking people cat-calling us and asking us where the party was. I didn’t feel very safe in the parking lot. I would not recommend this place to anyone!! Not worth it.…
In general I wasn't pleased with my stay. The front desk clerk was very nice to me ( hence the one additional star) but the hotel itself seems kind of rundown and sketchy. Rooms were not very clean and smelled very strongly of weed. We didn't plan on staying here but the Sleep Inn across the street was booked so we didn't have a choice. I would not stay here again.
The hotel is spacious and located in an OK location in north Charleston , average time to downtown is about 15 min and easy driving , The only issue that needs your attention is the way coming in to this hotel from the highway , Once you turn into the lane going to the hotel , its an uphill facing direct west , and from 1 pm to 6 pm , the sun will shine directly into your eyes which make driving very hazardous as once you get over the slope you hv to immediately change to the right lane and turn , the hotel is across the street and you have to immediately make a left to enter . Any naive driver will be blinded by the sun and running the risk of hitting the car on the right lane , or if not he will miss the right lane and have to circle back .. I have driven several times on this path and found it dangerous but there is no way out . Other then that the hotel is OK , breakfast is alright and staff are nice . But there are many hotels of same rating nearby , you may want to consider elsewhere if your driving skill is not as sharp . Charleston is loaded with history and Fort Sumter is one , its about 20 min drive to the pier in Concord Road , also another less well known attraction is the Hunley Submarine research lab which is also quite near and worth going.…
We stayed at several EconoLodges on our recent trip, but this one was the worst! Light bulbs were missing or malfunctioning, beds looked like sheets hadn't been changed, dresser drawer had no bottom on it, bathroom door wouldn't shut, freezer part of refrig. dripped, no phone, etc. Exterior was in bad shape and water dripped constantly from the second floor--sidewalk always wet! We are seniors and were afraid to leave the room at night due to noise from disreputable looking characters in the parking lot--possibly dealing drugs. I see prior reviews were answered by the motel manager saying that issues would be addressed. I also listed them for Richard before checking out. From what we witnessed no effort is being made to make the necessary changes. In addition, a $10 charge was posted to our credit card in addition to the room charge. I have called Richard a couple of times about it and was told it is a Choice Hotel policy which will be removed in 3 to 5 days. This is not true as we stayed in Choice Hotels exclusively and no other hotel followed that policy. DO NOT make the mistake of staying here and overpaying for poor accommodations.…
The price was cheap and I loved that. The room was pretty good, but nothing great. I stayed one night and left and came back after touring the next day. The second day the room had a hole patched but wasnt sanded and painted. Otherwise good. It would be great though that the maid came after 11 am when the checkout times are so you can be gone.
