I have been staying at the Crown Plaza in Charleston, SC for many years. The managers, Mark and David were very helpful for our stay last week and the shrimp and grits are amazing! Great food and hospitality as always..very nice hotel. Also only about 15 minutes from historic downtown Charleston.
We choose to stay in hotels over Airbnb during travel, the main reason is the daily room clean that is offered by hotels.. We especially like to choose 4 stars or above level hotels, so we can have a guaranteed clean room in which to stay. However, after our experience of staying at the Crowne Plaza, North Charleston, we have to rethink staying in hotels for travel. No prior communication when we booked the room and checked in the hotel about there not being any room cleaning at all. After the first night, the next day late in the evening when we came back to our room, we realized that it had not been cleaned. We called the front desk, they told us that we had to let them know ahead of time for the room to be cleaned. So, at that time we told the staff that we would like to have the room cleaned the next day. By the afternoon of the next day, we came back to the hotel, we realized that the "so-called cleaning" is just to changing the towels for us, not cleaning the room (no making the bed. no vacuuming the floor and no taking the trash). So for three nights and 4 days staying, we have never experienced 4 stars service. Very disappointing! and wish I did not book the room. It would probably make me feel better if they will let me know ahead of time that there would not be any room cleaning during our stay. But no, they did not. Feels like they don't care about customer experience. The hotel chain put a big slogan on the home page stating the "IHG Clean". I think it is a joke, or maybe the IHG clean means not clean......…
Mildew in shower . How can house keeping not notice this ? I was very disappointed. I come to Charleston For business but will be looking for a different location to stay. A couple of sprays of tilex would help. Some one is not doing there job .
I checked into the Crowne Plaza Hotel 2-13-21 at 3pm. The hotel was contacted prior to my arrival for Valentines Day instructions, if you will. The plan was for the staff to put a bottle of red wine in my room along with a dozen of roses that I had delivered earlier in the day. However, after I arrived and went up to the room is when I noticed that the wine and roses were not there. Secondly, after getting out of the shower I noticed roaches on the dresser. Once I noticed the roaches, I took pictures and notified the front desk. The front desk attendant immediately switched our rooms. Lastly, we never received any room service over the weekend. Our room wasn't given fresh towels or linen until I asked, after being there for 2 days. For this experience I give the lowest rating possible…
Crown Plaza used to be one of my favorite spots to go to. However I recently tried to reserve a room but the receptionist or cashier or whatever her Title was asked me if I lived around the area. I told yes I did and I am a regular. She then replied that since I'm local I couldn't get a room.Im thinking because I'm black but I didn't want to make a scene. I asked why and she replied she didn't know. Wow, Really. I will never be back again Monday August 10, 2020 6:00pm
