Let me try and narrow things down a little bit. Rude staff. Had no running water for 7.5 hours one day with only a few hours notice. Key cards would randomly stop working. Pools are not clean. The washer and dryer in the room ruined several items of our clothing. The AC doesn’t work. Asked to speak to a manager, they have a sign that says one is on staff 24/7, yet the manager won’t be in until this afternoon to speak with me. As I was walking away from the desk, the staff member sarcastically mumbled “wow” under his breath. Not the best customer service if you ask me. I generally just let things go when I’m on vacation, but this has really upset all of us on this family vacation. Since I’ve made multiple trips to the office, I have witnessed several other people that were upset about various things, either calling or down there in person.

Booked a room through AirBNB for one of Carolinian’s rooms. On Airbnb it states that if early check-in is available for the room, they will let you know by 9am. When we didn’t hear, we went to hotel to see many signs stating no early check-in due to COVID. Check in at 4, so we arrive at 3:55 to a line through the entire lobby and into hallway. This line (no social distancing, btw) continued to grow down the hall and into the corridor holding first floor rooms. After an hour wait, we finally get to check-in desk where we are informed our room is not ready. Apparently there was a linen delivery delay and no one was able to check in to their room. We were then sent away, to wait for a call that our room is ready. As I am writing this, it’s is 7:30pm and still no room. We were offered no food voucher, refund, or discount. The GM never showed his face, instead leaving two powerless front desk workers to face hoards of angry people and notify them they can’t do anything. After being hoarded into the indoor pool area with all the children of other waiting guests (with the echoes shrieks as background), we hear from another guest who checked-in last night that this exact situation occurred the night before. Him and his 3 young children were not given a room until 8:30pm. Not to mention, rumors by other guests are that the water is being shut off in the building the next day due to a leak (which I have not heard confirmation of from staff, as they avoid questions at this point). Avoid this hotel if you wish to have your expectations fulfilled and be given the decency of full communication.

Posted check in is 4pm. It’s 8:30 pm and room is still not ready. People waiting all over the hotel for their rooms. Housekeeping is behind they say. No word of compensation from General Manager. They’re saying 75% of new check-ins are still waiting on their rooms. Children sleeping in pool chairs. Avoid at all costs. They’re sorry, but not helpful.

My wife and I visited here for an impromptu New Year’s getaway and were not disappointed. We were first time visitors to this hotel in particular due to the excellent pricing we got, so we were unaware of what to expect. Upon arrival, they have ample drop off/registration parking right up front. Employees were friendly and helpful with explaining accommodations and surrounding area, and the lobby was clean and open with applicable COVID precautions present. The two (and really only) drawbacks to this property were explained right from the get-go; parking and breakfast are both off-site. However, the parking garage is free and only a block away, as is breakfast at Magnolias at 26th if you have the meals included with your stay. Both were fine, just a bit inconvenient in the rain. Pro Tip: ask the front desk if the City is charging for public parking, they were not when we were there so you could park considerably easier than in-season. The room was clean and comfortable and the HVAC unit worked well, which is refreshing versus some of the hotels on the strip. There was a heated pool and lazy river as well as a hot tub that were all covered, enclosed, or both so we were able to enjoy them despite rain and some chilly wind. Overall would recommend and will likely return!

Two years ago I had stayed at Room 1034 at the Carolinian Resort, and had a pleasant experience. I returned back again this summer, requested the same room, and was very pleasantly surprised to find it upgraded and enhanced even further. There was state of the art porcelain stoneware tile flooring in the living room and bedroom, freshly painted walls, and brand new artwork. The room is spacious, breakfast accommodations at Magnolia's outstanding, and the all-round experience was very memorable. The Carolinian Beach Resort is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Grand Strand!
