Margate Tower is the tallest building on the SC coast. This is not a commercial building. Each condo is privately owned and many owners rent their condo either through Embassy Suites on Kingston Plantation or local realtors. Some condos are used as second homes and about 50 condos are occupied full-time by owners. Renters need to keep in mind that they are staying in someone’s private home and are subject to the rules of the Homeowner’s Association. Those rules are enforced by an employee of the HOA who mans the lobby desk 24 hours a day. This person is not able to resolve any issues that arise in your rented condo so if you have any issues you must contact your rental agency. Since Margate Tower is a private residential building it does not have any amenities such as a restaurant, gym or beach equipment service. The only amenity is the pool complex - also subject to the rules of the HOA. However there are several restaurants on Kingston Plantation or within easy walking distance. Kingston Plantation has a huge pool complex and a very nice gym that can be used by renters but only if they rent their condo through the Kingston Plantation reservation system. Of course nothing is free so if you rent through Kingston Plantation you will be assessed a daily resort fee and parking fee. If you want to use the new Kingston Plantation pool and water park system then the resort fees may be worth it to you. I am an owner of one of the Margate Tower condos and live here full-time. If you rent one of the condos available for rent and follow the HOA rules you will probably have a great time. The condos very spacious and units that end in “01” through “07” are oceanfront. “08” units are ocean view and “09” units are interior view. However if you are looking for a place to throw a loud party with a lot of people you will run the risk of being asked to leave early.…
We rented our unit from a local rental company - Saunders Place. They had an easy online experience. Margate Towers was well kept, staff was friendly and the pools were clean. Easy access to the beach. Our unit was well outfitted with just a couple of maintenance issues. Beach views were outstanding as was the morning sunsets. There is not an umbrella or chair service; however, our unit had chairs. Margate Towers is part of the Kingston Plantation property which was well kept. This tower has no on-site restaurant. Also, just a side note - you cannot visit the Kingston Plantation workout center unless you rent through their site. No question, we would return to this building.
*Margate Tower* - totally recommend (but pricey). Family friendly. Safe (gated). 4 bedroom, 3 bath condo - extremely spacious, perfect view with wrap around deck. Counters, surfaces, floors were very clean, but could have been more detailed around edges and behind furniture. Margate pool is for that tower only, not shared with the rest of the resort and was practically empty all the time.
Need to clean house! Great room, great view; terrible staff! If you’re told to use the “beach” elevator, push on with the regular elevator and tell the troll to mind her business. No signage at the front of the hotel (where we entered from the splash park) telling you or directing you to the “breach elevator” so why would you know to use it or where it is? The “person” that even bothered to bring themselves to the front desk to bark these orders wasn’t even there when we came into check out the room. Imagine, someone making $30k South Carolinian money lording over you. Nope. Tv doesn’t work, internet doesn’t work. If you’re not a resident here then you’re treated like crap on the staff’s shoes. Kids cleaned off from the beach and brought their boogie boards into the pool enclosure and two of them brought their clean boogie boards into the pool. Again no signage prohibiting any of it and then another troll came and laid these unwritten rules on us. We were the only ones there at the time. Behold the signage outlining these prohibited items. If you are a resident apparently the no pets in the pool enclosure doesn’t apply. One of them walked their rat dog in with nothing said to them, of course. You may notice a sign that says to “consider” wearing a mask (this is South Carolina after all) they are supposed to be “required” in the lobby but when the trolls even bother to fake wearing a mask, it never comes over their mouth and/or nose. Never staying here again! Not kid or family friendly. Perhaps residents should reclaim this as a private residence only if they are so bothered by what “out of towners” are doing in their backyard. The front desk “personnel” that bother to sit at the desk without a mask and bark orders do not work for Hilton and it shows. Margate Tower is straight garbage!…
I had previously stayed in the Margate tower back in February of 2015 for a Women’s Retreat and loved how big the suites were. The double doors, the large kitchen and spacious bathroom were memories that made me seek to stay here again. Not to mention the beautiful location right by the pier. Just gorgeous! But this recent stay was not as great. We travel to the beach for the weekend with our sons and their sweethearts. Planned for a nice weekend with candy and flower but this dirty place gave memories of dust and roses. I understand furnture being old, I do not understand room not being properly and fully cleaned inbetween guests. All 6 of us on the trip had to continuously take allergy pills because the place was so dusty and the furnture had not be cleaned. The sheets were hard with permanent creases and wrinkles that would not smooth out and felt like they were washed in with some type of starch. The bedding had no fitted sheets on any of the beds. This was a 3 bedroom unit with 4 beds. The mattresses was covered with a pad and a flat sheet that did not fully cover the bed. I had to go to Walmart on the corner and buy bedding. Dear Management, you can skimp on everything else but the beds need to be comfortable, cozy and clean. These bed are old, very dusty with hard too small sheets. We stayed 3 nights and every night I longed for my own bed. This is a beautiful property and the décor is nicer than the other tower but they are equally dirty. We won’t even talk about whatever is growing on the glass door of the shower!!! Visible mold and mildew. Clean that please!!! Take the time to clean this place up. The twin beds were pushed together in one of the rooms and the discovery of dirt and dust underneath still has me sneezing!! It is getting harder and harder to find clean, nice, hotels at Myrtle unless the place was recently opened.…
The cities of Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach require face coverings when inside a common area of condo buildings. Unfortunately Kingston Plantation sits between these two cities and the county has no mask mandate. We saw many people wandering the building with no face covering at all. There are signs up that say “Please wear a face covering ...” but there isn’t any enforcement of that policy whatsoever. An elevator may arrive in the lobby and disgorge an entire family without masks and then you must choose whether or not to take that elevator which, in theory, could be full of airborne virus. We always passed. If you take COVID-19 seriously this place isn’t for you. Look for somewhere that has policies that will help protect you and are enforced instead of just suggested. Too many people don’t seem to care. …
