Like someone else on Trip Advisor noted, Fripp Island has become a victim of it's own success. We have been there probably 8-10 times and have seen the prices go up, and the resort become less and less accommodating for guests.

Absolutely the best beach vacation we've ever had, and we've stayed up and down the coast of South Carolina. The atmosphere is unbelievable, the views are breath taking, and nature comes to your back steps. The beaches are wide open and not crowded, and there...More
My wife and I have been vacationing on Fripp for over 10 years. The entire island is gated and ensures to the peacefulness and slow pace of this reclusive island life. You'll find many deer that wander about the island and this adds to the...More

My dad retired from the Marines and I grew up in the area for some years but I always go back every summer to Fripp Island and Beaufort both places are layed back and beautiful. However it is a little drive to Parris Island around 30 min. If you were staying several days then it would be worth it staying at Fripp because the hotels fill up fast. I don't know when his graduation is but you may want to check Bed and Breakfast or hotels in Port Royal if there is any available.
