The room was not actually overcharged. After changing a form of payment it can take 3-5 business days for the original authorization hold to be released by the bank. The same applies for incidental authorizations. It is unlawful for a hotel to charge anything additional other than the price agreed upon at the time of booking unless the guest does not qualify and has booked a discounted rate. The only other charges that a hotel will impose are purchases made directly at the hotel or if there is any damage in the room. In this particular case none of this applied.
