We loved our stay at Ansonborough Inn. Jonathan gave exceptional service at the desk and helped us set up a Haunted Tour at the Historic Charleston Jail (must-see!). Before booking any tours/excursions, speak to the desk staff to see if they can coordinate on your behalf and if they have any coupons or discount codes. There is a station with pamphlets and cards near the desk for an easy selection process! We loved how close this was to all of our activities. As for the Fort Sumter Tour Ferry and Aquarium, Ansonborough Inn was less than a 10 minute walk to both. The restaurant scene on East Bay was less than a 5 minute walk, as well as the City Market and shopping. The Inn itself was very well maintained and quiet. I would recommend taking some food and a bottle of wine back to your room and enjoying it on their rooftop! It was a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Charleston. They kept snacks in their hospitality suite, which were helpful after the extensive walking throughout our trip! Wine & Cheese were served during the early evening, which was wonderful. Highly recommend!

Its been about 3 weeks since we stayed at Ansonborough, but I wanted to be sure I reviewed our outstanding stay at this unique property. First, congratulations to the hotel for working with Covid restrictions yet still offering both a lovely breakfast and afternoon happy hour complete with wine and cheese, all individually packaged. Then, the property is historic and interesting. Rooms are large and ours included a separate sitting area and couch with TV, also a kitchenette area, an entry way, and of course full bath. The free bus that circulates in the historic district is two blocks away, and there is a grocery across the street. Our stay at Ansonborough was delightful in every way. All staff were pleasant, always spoke and were helpful.

It’s been a while since we stayed here. Our room was a bit run down and just plain loud at night from the street, air conditioning. Housekeeping was not up to par either. Not worth the exorbitant price we paid ($400+) for a Saturday night stay.

I wanted to try something different. It looked so good from the pictures and it really is a pretty hotel on the inside. It was just a little too dark and claustrophobic for me. There aren’t enough windows. It seems more like a lodge. Very small room, but nice enough. My biggest complaints are 1- parking is not included in the price, and 2- they don’t supply bottled water in the rooms. These are basic amenities that could have given your hotel atleast 1 more star from me. It’s not a cheap room either at $300/night you can provide bottled water for your guests. Also, the food and wine are not good. I’ve had better breakfasts at a Hampton inn. Also, the location is a bit farther than I anticipated from the market, that’s my fault for not checking, either way I will probably not return. They tried to make this classy, but it’s just not.

Stayed here for a week with my family. Lovely hotel and everybody working there was so nice. Special mention goes to Catherine, who, when we arrived and I realized I had left my backpack in a random cab that brought us from the airport, managed to work her magic and track the cab down and had the driver deliver the backpack to me at the hotel. Amazing customer service ! Breakfast was very much appreciated and the ladies working in there were so pleasant every morning. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Charleston.
