We were invited to Charleston for a job interview for my husband and the perspective employer booked us at the Market Pavilion Hotel. As I understand it, they just underwent a renovation. Rooms were large and very comfortable. Bathroom was very nice and roomy with a stand up enclosed shower and a separate tub. There is a rooftop pool with a bar and a fitness center. In the mornings, there are separately bagged pastries, coffee, tea, fruit and I'm assuming each floor has this selection. In the afternoons, there are wrapped cookies and fruit. We enjoyed two nights at this lovely hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Danny who gave us instructions as to valet parking and helped us with our luggage up to our room. We were early and well before the 3 p.m. check-in but I had called the day before asking if early check in was possible. The ladies at the desk were able to get us checked in upon arrival so my husband could get changed before his job interview. Everyone was very friendly. Laura greeted us Thursday as she had been off on Wednesday. Very, very nice lady as was all of the staff we encountered.…
I had passed through the impressive lobby of this hotel many times on the way to the rooftop bar but never stayed. This trip we did stay and I just can't say enough positive things! Our room was on the 2nd floor and had just gone through a renovation. The carpeting (in the hall and in the rooms) is different and lovely. The room was done very well...very comfy with amenities you don't usually see. Bathroom was huge! The morning coffee stations have everything you can imagine including an assortment of pastries "bagged" for you to just grab & go. Fruit and cookies as well. There was evidence EVERYWHERE of their diligence in maintaining a "germ free" environment including "wrapped" fruit and hand sanitizer stations. The location of the property is perfect...right in the middle of the downtown. You can walk just about anywhere. Or summon a "rickshaw" and ride. The actual physical building & rooms are first class but it's the PEOPLE who deserve the highest possible marks. We had some very minor blips upon check-in; likely the result of low occupancy and the renovation; but each blip was dealt with swiftly and to our 100% satisfaction. This is NOT a chain hotel...and it shows in the way they care about their guests. If you want to be treated like an honored guest, stay here!!!…
They just reopened and I needed a break! I used to travel frequently to Charleston and Market Pavilion was always my go to when they had availability. I was surprised to hear when I booked that they had just completed a major renovation. From the time they greeted me at the front door to the time they held the door to my Uber as I left I had the best getaway from the doldrums of daily COVID stress. The bellman and front desk greeted me with a smile and answered every question, provided me with a complimentary bottle of water (that was a nice new touch). I was so at ease as the staff not only talked about the efforts they make to keep their guests safe but put them into practice continually. I was lucky enough to get a Queen room with a lovely view of the Custom's House. Even though I only ventured out in the afternoons to a few of my favorite shops on King Street, the bellman greeted me with a friendly hello as if he were an old friend. I was so pleased that they have MAJORLY upgraded the sometimes finicky WIFI that I have experienced in the past. I am so loving the new wallpaper and curtains. The new plush bedding, to die for linens and my personal favorite the marble bathrooms. The time in my room was capped off by the most comfy robe I have ever worn! If I could have worn it shopping I would have!! The Hermes toiletries that has become a favorite of mine from before. I wish I were still traveling for business to Charleston regularly because everything I love about Market Pavilion just got better! It was nice to travel for fun this time and so glad I picked an old favorite...that is now a new favorite again. I actually left feeling relaxed and ready to return to my hectic life in Virginia.…
We were celebrating my husband's 80th birthday. The restaurant is warm and inviting and is in the front of the hotel. We were seated at a charming banquet which offered us a modicum of privacy. Our server arrived and welcomed us warmly. My name is Jordan (Ross). I understand you are celebrating a special occasion. Our son and daughter in law had preordered the meal. The next two hours were delicious. Our nitro drinks were interesting and very good. The food was extraordinary. The variety included tuna tower, escargot Onion soup, octopus and these were only the st arters. With every dish Jordan explained what we were eating and was attentive to all our needs. The lobster was huge and served beautifully. Everything about this restaurant is a 10. My husband is gluten free and their gf bread is the best he ever ate.I work I have recommended this restaurant to friends visiting Charleston and they loved it as well. Since our service was excellent we would only ask for Jordan. She was terrific.…
