we snuck away for a few days break and to celebrate my wife's birthday. this was the perfect spot. right in the heart of the historic district, just off of King Street and easy walking distance to most things. hotel was in the final stages of undergoing some renovations. our room was quite nice and very comfortable. staff is very friendly and helpful. parking is in a garage across the street. they have bikes you can use which is a great way to knock around charleston. i will gladly stay here again
This hotel was perfect. It was in a great location downtown, convenient to everything, had so many amenities. I can't wait to go back. I enjoyed the beautiful decor, excellent customer service, and the fitness center. There was even a peloton! The bed was super comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel!
My husband and I loved our stay! Super accommodating and clean. I didn’t feel like I was shuffled into the “dog” portion of the hotel like so many other places! Jay C. (Doorman) was super kind, helpful and made you feel at home. All folks at the front desk were great too! A wonderful place to wander from around Charleston.
Having lived in Charleston wayyy back (right before Hurricane Hugo hit in '89), this remains my favorite city ever. Stayed here a couple times when returning for the Bridge Run - nothing like finishing near your hotel! This time, my amazing fiance & I stayed here for a couple nights just to get away from the craziness of Washington DC. The renovations from the last visit...wow...the colors, the furniture, the rooms. Safety measures in place from the instant we drove up. Valet parking not available at the time - the garage they recommend across the street is perfect though and very convenient. Full house - Charleston does have that draw. Due to circumstances beyond their control, only one elevator was working as they were waiting on a repair part. We were on a high floor and of course, since I run a lot, it shouldn't have been a big deal to climb stairs...yet....!! We absolutely loved our stay and were quite pleased to receive credit every day for Handy & Hot, Vivian Howard's grab-n-go concept. That hit the spot. They also serve alcohol so that was a plus too. Saw where the restaurant Lenoir (same chef) will be opening in the Spring - just another great reason to return. The location is absolutely fantastic. We used our car one time - to leave and drive back to DC.…
There are a couple of hotels I prefer when staying in/near the historic district. This one tops my list, for sure!! Recent stay in The Riley Suite and it was great. The refrigerator, however, froze whatever beverages were in there overnight. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A big shout out to the door men......This visit our interactions were with Jay C and Mackey W. Although valet parking was not available yet, due to Covid restrictions, the gentlemen were most gracious and welcoming each time we left or returned to the hotel. In past visits, these 2 doormen were also there to give outstanding service. There is a third doorman I would like to mention as outstanding, although I understand he has been furloughed currently, again, due to Covid. Bill is his name and I certainly hope to see him, along with Jay and Mackey, on my next visit. Again, as always, a great stay on Renaissance, Historic Charleston District and I am anxious to return soon. Concerning the dining situation at the hotel. we found Handy and Hot to be fine for our breakfast needs. I love Vivian Howard and am excited for the opening of the on-site Lenoir Restaurant soon.…
