We took a weekend trip to Charleston and wanted to stay somewhere authentic to the historic area. We got that with our room at the Barksdale. The location is so close to everything that we never drove and the breakfast was delicious! Only areas that could use improvement are the upkeep on the exterior of the house and more attention...

We stayed at the inn for one night. The location is about a 15 minute walk from East Bay the restaurant strip. It is close to a high end shopping street if that is what you are going to Charleston for. We were in #11 in the carriage house which was simply decorated and clean enough. There was a pedestal...

This was my first trip to Charleston. I was totally happy with the Barksdale House Inn. Everyone on the staff was super-friendly, the place itself is charming, and the breakfast I had on Sunday morning was terrific. The little back porch and fountain were great for an afternoon siesta with a book and a glass of sweet tea. The location...

A great B&B. Would go again in a minute. Well tended to, comfy bed and ammenities, iced tea in the aft, wonderful buffet breakfast in the morn, and a short (2 blocks) to the university or into downtown. Parking included. Go!

Just off two main streets. We stayed in #6 in main house - very spacious, huge comfortable bed (big posts), fireplace (spring, so don't know if it works), small tv (we don't care), small refrig. Not noisy, even tho a very busy evening downtown, We walked about 3/4 mile to Noisy Oyster and Vendue area. Charleston is esp fabulous in...

I have been staying at the Barksdale House for many many years. I love Charleston, SC and everything that it has to offer in the downtown area, and one of my favorite parts has been staying at this B&B; however I have watched this hot spot slowly decline over the past few years. We recently stayed for the Spoleto arts...

I stayed in the Carriage House at the Barksdale House Inn. The room was enormous with lots of windows and it had a dated, but quaint bathroom. The location was good - we walked everywhere in Charleston, but it is a bit further compared to some of the other hotels. Still a 5-25 minute walk will get you to all...

Wonderful location for those wanting to forego auto usage as much as possible. Weekend breakfast had freshly prepared hot items-weekday usually just a baked item. Room 12 in the carriage house was spacious and furnished in keeping with the period theme . The inn keepers we met at check in were friendly and welcoming-shout out to Kelsey, who promptly responded...

The rooms are large, the breakfast is wonderful and the location is great! Free parking is a rarity in Charleston, so this is even more special. All of the people were very nice and helpful. We will definitely go back.

My wife & I stayed two nights here on our recent travels up the eastern seaboard. Convenient central location for all the local attractions. Checked in quickly in spite of being very early by a delightful & charming lady. The Inn is a lovely period building with loads of southern charm & style. Our room was a short walk away...
