We thought this was going to be such a nice romantic night away. We went to Charleston for just one night and thought a bed and breakfast would be perfect. Love downtown area and the house is absolutely beautiful. Our room was on the third floor and in the middle of the summer with high 90's heat, the A/C control... More

We arrived around 7pm and the door was locked and the innkeeper acted like they weren't expecting us. Definitely made us a little nervous right off the bat but she remembered once we said our name. And that was after calling them to confirm earlier in the day. (they also told us that the air was broke which also made... More

Ashley Inn is old and historic, but staircases difficult to negotiate. Our room was the "suite" in the attic, beautifully decorated, good white linens and good towels. Small shower with plenty of hot water, low pressure. Afternoon tea was disappointing, had to boil my own water for tea. Breakfast TOO elaborate - not everyone wants banana rum french toast, or... I really enjoyed my stay at the wonderful Ashley Inn. The Inn is beautifully furnished and located on a shady street very near the historic district. The Innkeeper was very welcoming and helpful. She provided me with a map of the historic district and showed me the trolley lines and where to find the restaurant where I had reservations. Several... More

We arrived very early to find the gardener doing the garden. He turned out to be the owner who was very welcoming and was very knowledgeable about the town and its history. Our room had a four poster bed and good facilities. There are many good eateries nearby.

The house is beautiful but the management is very poor. My memories of this place are very disappointing because of very absentee innkeeper. No suggestions for sightseeing or restaurant tips. No care given to guests needs. Example - coffee ready in am with only packets of artificial cream. (!) Commented about that so they provided cream next morning in bowl... More

The inn was attractive with comfortable rooms in charmingly and fittingly dated decor. It was clean and the breakfasts were good. What really stands out, though was the staff who was lovely, kind-hearted and made our stay special. A big thank you to Ashley, Kealy (I hope I'm spelling your name correctly) and Amelia.

we choose this property because it was saturday so we need a location in a walking distance to bsbi synagogue and to the historical area of charleston. otherwise an hotel outside the city with sensible price is a better option. the propert preserves traditional style what means very nice but less practical.

Dear bestZagreb, We are happy that you described our inn as "nice". We try very hard to maintain this 180 year old property to the period of its origination yet with modern conveniences. I believe you will find our rates more than competitive with other accommodation in Charleston. I could very well be that the IP address was not attuned... More

Was disappointed with our stay. Bathroom shower curtain was molded. Breakfast was cold and not good. No coffee available in the afternoon. Would not come back. The room and bath was very small and crowded with furniture. The gardens in the yard were all overgrown. The place needs some TLC.

After a long drive, we were happy to arrive at the Ashley Inn. The place had a real southern feeling about it. Porches on the ground level and the first floor. It was very clean and nice to see. The bedrooms were fine, plenty spacious. See however my comments below on choosing a room. Breakfast was delicious. The Ashley is... More
