The Coolangatta Estate is a winery with B&B accommodation set in a variety of restored and new buildings from the estate built by an early Australian explorer Alexander Berry from the 1800's, The buildings have been restored by the present owners who have created them into accommodation premises inside with the details of the buildings on the outside. The premises... More

I have lived in the area for 25 years and never undertaken a proper tour of Coolangatta Estate until this weekend. The winery was stunning and the tasting second to none. We had just completed a bus tour of the Illawarra wineries and Coolangatta came up trumps! Ben Bishop was knowledgeable and charismatic. He absolutely made our day!. I would... More

Given the accommodation is 3 star I am giving my rating at 4 out of 5, though I more swaying towards 3 1/2 as a bit more maintenance is required. All of the accommodation has a rustic feel and is set amongst gardens and gum trees. Our room in the "Cottage" was spacious with plenty of beds to chose from... More

This was a surprise. The dining room was large and sparsely populated with tables, but had an A1 view over the Shoalhaven River. We decided to share some dishes with our 10 and 12yo boys so opted for a cheese/pate/olive/fruit platter, a bucket of prawns and a whole bbq'd spatchcock (with slaw, baked potato and chimichurri suace). It was all... More

Arrived Saturday for lunch at the Fire Grill which the food was great but the price not so great. Walked into the winery to taste the local wines and walked out with two bottles (a white and a red) We spent the night in The Plumber Shop which In the early 1800’s it was the only workshop in the district... We stayed at the stables which was, you guessed it an old stable with the two part door that allowed the horse to stick its head out the door intact. The room was clean and the amenities fine for a three start hotel. The staff were nice and the lodging adequate (the shower was very good). If it had been... More

I don't think the owners really know how they want to position themselves but I'd say it's 3 star accommodation in a pretty rural setting. Don't expect a boutique vineyard getaway. It's a mixture of historical buildings converted to apartments. Given they are conversions the configuration of the room was awkward. The kitchenette had a dripping tap and a leak... More

We stay one night here as our 1st stop on our road trip from Sydney to Melbourne. The place is good, the receptionists were friendly, and the wine tasting is great. Bought 2 bottles of red wine and both taste very nice. The building is old, but clean and tidy. I just concern on the door knob in our room... More

We arrived at night and had a terrible time finding rooms in the dark , visibility of room numbers is poor. Rooms vary drastically in design and comfort so if you can inspect before choosing. Configurations are odd and impractical in some. Though rooms were clean they are quite basic and smelt strongly if cleaning agents , the exhaust fan... More

Coolangatta Estate offers great rooms at competitive prices. I see a lot of negative reviews, perhaps if your are expecting 5 star rooms and facilities. Rooms are large and equipped with all the essentials. In addition, the winery is amazing and so is the food. Vehicle access right uptill the door step of the rooms. The place is half an... More
