The hostel was very well situated - just a two minute walk to a small shopping centre that had a a Woolworths. In just a five minute walk you are in the centre of town with lots of bars and restaurants. It is very basic as you expect a hostel to be, however, it was extremely clean which surprised me....

Why do hostels still have a smoking section in public areas? The Byron Bay YHA has their smoking section right outside people's rooms, including mine, so I was treated to the smell of smoke the entire time. There is no AC so you can't close the window. It is a public health issue. If you're a smoker, you will love...

Booked a private room here from one night based on a great experience at the Wellington YHA and was pretty underwhelmed. The staff were nice, but the hostel itself is on the grungy and antiquated side and not particularly clean (read bathrooms). Worst for me was my pillow smelt VERY musky and like it had been washed and put away...

As a 17 year old female I stayed in a private room with my friend (also 17 y/o female) for five nights and we have nothing bad to say about the hostel itself, however if you are 17 you miss out on some activities such as nights at their partner club cheeky monkeys. The location was super convenient- right near...

Really well managed hostel with a good-sized kitchen which is kept clean regularly. When we were there (October 2016) they were constructing and expansion of the hostel which started early in the mornings and woke us up - this was the only negative and the reception did give out free ear plugs. Free wifi in the common areas is a...

Hi Jake and Nicoline It's great that you enjoyed your stay with us. Sorry that the building noise disturbed you. As you saw, we are working next door on an exciting new extension of the hostel. When it opens in 2017, we'll have great new rooms and facilities. Meantime, we are trying to minimise inconvenience to guests. Hope to see...

Stayed a couple nights at the hostel as part of a business trip. Great set up and one of the better Aussie hostels I have been to. Big semi out door common area looking onto a pool. Decent kitchen, parking and facilities. Staff super friensly lead by the swedish guy that has been here forever. Also night staff were fantastic...

It's a nice hostel, there's a pool, staff is great and very friendly. Atmosphere is good, kitchen big and clean, the only downside: a bit pricey. Chill place to meet people very close to cheeky monkeys and beach. A1 toliets for a hostel

Stayed here with a group of friends, the pool area is so cool. Lots of communal areas with hammocks, so chill! Rooms are clean and comfortable and the location is awesome, walking distance to everything and right dawn the road from a coles (food store) which was handy!

THEY are the good councilors of Byron Shire (not the owners**) For reasons we will not go into here, WHAT THEY’VE DONE is install paid parking all around BYRON BAY YHA. Plenty of free parking with no time limit particularly under the trees across the road was a MAJOR REASON it was my favourite out of the 6 backpackers’ I’ve...

Hi Blackeldo Thanks for continuing to choose our hostel to stay at. Yes, the street parking is outside our control but there are the onsite spots. You noticed our new building. This has just started next door and we'll be updating all about it on our website in 2017. But yes, there will be parking :-) And lots more -...
