This is a really beautiful hostel, within a great environment. I got upgraded to island arc room rather than a 6-10 bed dorm which was a nice surprise. There's lots of nice scenery around with turkeys and water dragons wandering around all over the place, the hostel appears to be in a very green luscious area which makes the stay...

Dear HK, Thanks for taking the time to write a review, I am glad that you enjoyed the grounds and had a relaxing time. Such a shame you didn't meet any other folks to hang out with :( As a large and busy hostel, we do offer a lot of free activities and workshops as a way to get our...

I stayed here at the Arts Factory in November of 2015 and it was a fairly mediocre stay. I had heard such great things, cool vibe, fun atmosphere, great accommodations, but I would have to disagree. This is a fun place if you are young and have travelled with a bunch of friends. I came here alone and was surely...

Hi Julia, thanks for taking the time to write a review. You stayed in our lowest price room - the 8 share Island Retreat. For just $2 to $5 more, you could have stayed in a much more comfortable and spacious dorm, even a female only room with an en-suite and kitchen. When you say be wary and keep your...

Arts Factory is definitely an acquired taste. We loved the vibe and people we met, chilling by the pool, hot breakfast from the cafe, going to the cinema just a two minute walk away and visiting the buddah bar for their themed nights and fantastic food. I stayed at this hostel twice - once in the female dorm/lodge which was...

Thank you so much for your great feedback Hannah. I have copied your feedback into my notes, so I can go over it at our next staff meeting. This looks to be an area we can definitely improve on, so we can work towards this! Please note - the check in process is slow. We accommodate 500 guests, and at...

I spent two nights here - trying not to break the budget, avoided places closer to the center Byron CBD. I'm not sure what people meant by the walk to town - really 10 minutes tops or a 15 minute stumble back. Staff are pretty friendly. One recommendation for staff is to enforce the rules, particularly around no-smoking or glass...

Thanks for your review Paul. I will address the staff observing the rules more closely, at your advice. We definitely do not allow glass in the pool area, and I am a stickler for this! When you say no smoking - we do not allow marijuana on the property, but there are designated cigarette smoking zones. Once again, we will address...

Arrived on Australia day really excited, asked specifacally not to have a room by the pool as you can imagine it would be roudey all eve day long. Arrived......room by the pool. Locked all my valuables in the safe and left my passport behind the bar. Pool was full of beer, piss, people having sex all day. Went out for...

We stayed one night in a teepee, which was clean but quite humid & sticky inside with no real ventilation, and in the evening when it rained it leaked. The arts factory as a whole is a lovely place & with the brewery next door is really cool with the nights they have on there. I'd advise getting a dorm...

Thanks for your review Amy, glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. The teepee you stayed in will be recovered after Easter, so no more leaking! It has been a very hot summer, so humid in all our rooms, just so you don't feel left out ; ) Happy travels.

To me a must-do experience, really in the Byron relaxed hippie-style spirit. Camped there for 3-4 days, this backpacker allows both rooms to sleep in, or a sort of unbelievabale campsite in the "jungle" part of the lodge - the motto is, go to this place sheltered by a little bit of rainforest, find a spot, and set your tent!...

We had stayed in many hostels before arriving to Art Factory Lodge, so we pretty much knew how things work, when you pick this kind of accomondation. It's been totally fine these past 4 weeks, however, these couple of days in Art Factorys "Lakeside Lodge" really suprised us... And NOT in a good way. We had prebooked a 10 pers....

Hi Rikke, I had written a different response to you, but I just deleted it; because after following through with Craig, the manager you reported your stolen food to - there is a very different side to what you have said. This place is good if you don't want to spend $$$ on accommodation in town. The vibe is pretty cool here and I liked the Buddha Bar and onsite micro brewery.
