We were lucky enough to have booked this great campsite last year before we all had any idea of what 2020 would bring. I would say that not only have the owners of River Valley HP created a beautiful, thoughtfully set-out campsite but they have also ensured that this year, visitors could stay here as safely as possible and relax in a safe (to the best of our current knowledge) environment.
Everything had been thought off. Some pitches and caravans left empty to ensure the site wasn’t over crowded, signage and safety measures all clearly explained.
Aside from Corona Virus and the challenges that brings, the campsite is in a beautiful location, we loved the stream, nearby woodland, bike ride to nearby Pentewan village and beach. The site facilities were fresh, clean and kept beautifully, the shop is stocked with handy bits for campers and we used it often. The staff were super friendly and helpful, advice on activities, weather and places to visit are put out each day on a blackboard.
Being located near St Austell means the rest of Cornwall is accessible and there are lots of quieter, little coves and beaches to discover to escape crowds too. Wonderful woodland walks to explore, food vans on several nights of the week at the campsite, bike hire nearby, lovely pubs to have a socially-distanced, outside drink/meal close by. All in all, we had a beautiful two weeks here and very much look forward to visiting again.
Thanks for all your hard work RV.

This was my 12 visit to River valley. I spent the last two years trying somewhere else but decided to return here due to the other places I tried not even being a spec on River Valley.

9 of us travelled down and booked 2 caravans between us. We had a kings wood super and an oakwood. Couldn’t have been anymore happy with both vans, particularly the kings wood super which was virtually brand new and beautifully designed and spotlessly clean. As was the Oakwood. The site itself is also amazingly well looked after for such big size and family run business, the grass areas are kept cut and there isn’t a sparse area of grass on the whole site.

It was a strange year with covid around but that didn’t detract from our stay what-so ever. It’s the first year the kids haven’t been able to use the pool which was a huge disappointment and in honesty we wondered if this would spoil it a bit but the kids found plenty to do on the park and grass area. Having used the pool previously I can say that this is a lovely feature of the park and is always spotlessly clean too. The fact it is indoors and heated and has lovely clean shower facilities tops it off.

The Holiday park has a little laundry area where it has 2 industrial washing machines and tumble driers which for a small fee you can take your clothes and towels home clean and dry, it also has irons and ironing boards.

The park is located a few miles from one of my favourite places to walk around and visit. The harbour town of Mevagissey. It’s also located within a couple of miles of fast food, supermarkets and the town of st Austell which is handy too.

Alison and Paddy run the site and they are fantastic, nothing is ever too much trouble and they always make me and my family feel really welcome and always remember me and where I’ve travelled from.

All in all if you’re looking for the perfect site which is quiet at night and very family orientated then get this booked before they fill up for 2021.

We were gutted to leave and can’t wait to return next year.

Me and my family stayed at River Valley Holiday Park for a week over the August bank holiday. We had a fantastic time, the caravan was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay including complimentary Eggs, Milk, Tea and biscuits upon arrival which we felt was a nice touch from Paddy and Alison.

The board that was situated outside reception was very informative and the local walking trails was a delight!
A nice touch again was that the local fish and chip restaurant had a pop up Van on site on a Saturday night.

We toured all of Cornwall but I must say we found our location at River Valley was ideal location for us as it was extremely close to many shops and restaurants.

This was our first stay at River Valley. A stunning location and the site has all the facilities for a Family Holiday. The standard pitches are very spacious and well maintained. The hard standing is positioned so the caravan/tent/motor home can be orientated for sun rise or sun set. The pool is clean and warm and not too deep for little ones.
The showers and toilets are always spotless and even though the site was full, waiting time was very limited. The family room is an added bonus when cleaning young ones.
There are local businesses on some nights like Fish and Chips, Waffles and Cocktails.
A quiet site, very clean with good play areas for children. The Trail accessed on the site gives plenty of room to walk or ride bikes.
The location is suitable to choose many different beaches each day, however not all beaches permit dogs

In a nutshell an excellent site which we will use again

We booked a caravan at River Valley Holiday Park with just a few days notice. It turned out to be significantly better value than other parks located a little more beachside. The static caravan was freshly cleaned and in superb condition, facilities excellent and the location is handy for the local beaches without being too close. The staff at River Valley are really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. There are some superb walks from the site both along the river side (where we watched Herons fishing) along with lots of other flora and fauna. Being seniors, we really appreciated the tarmacked path alongside the St Austell River and in the other direction to Pentewan Beach. The same pathway, traffic free, is also just a 10 minute walk to the superb Trevithick Farm Shop and café. The date slice, accompanied by a delicious Americano, is to die for. Just a few yards from the café is The Kingswood, one of our favourite restaurants in the area, and as it's just a safe, 10 minute walk, there's no need to drive, so I was able to enjoy some really nice wine with our meal. The site also has other excellent facilities such as a pool and laundry facilities along with an area set aside for touring caravans and motorhomes. Wi-Fi was free. Will we go again? Definitely.

We have been staying at this park for many years now when we visit Cornwall. It’s in a ideal location to visit some of the top locations Cornwall has to offer. This year our visit was during COVID restrictions the only change on site was the swimming pool was closed which was made clear before we arrived . We stayed in a static caravan which as always was spotless this is also one of the main reasons we continue to return to River Valley. We were greeted with the lovely welcome pack of tea, milk , biscuits , eggs really nice when you have been travelling for hours . The caravan is fully equipped with everything you need down to pegs for hanging out washing and as we were staying for 2 weeks clean bedding was provided for week 2. The park is clean and tidy with areas for children to play safely . This was the first time we experienced other people sat outside at night but I think that was more due to COVID as we had 2 family groups near us so maybe meeting in the open rather than in the vans. We would recommend this park to anyone as a lovely base to stay .

Another great holiday, although the pool and games room were not open our girls had a great time and as is usual every year they made good friends. Night time curfew of 10pm is really good as no noise at all after that time. Caravan immaculate as always and welcome tray with tea, milk, biscuits and eggs is always welcome. would highly recommend a visit.

River Valley Holiday Park is a lovely and relaxing place to stay which played a big part in our having enjoyed our holiday. The caravan was immaculate - clean and comfortable with all the comforts of home. The precautions that you put in place to counter the threats of Covid made us feel secure. We did not need to trouble the reception staff because everything was so well organised but when we spoke to them, they were helpful, friendly and polite. We would have no hesitation in returning in the future and recommending the site to friends and family.

We have stayed here a few times over the years including this year, we have already booked for next year as well. Immaculate site and lovely staff. When we arrived the owners had put fresh milk and eggs in our fridges ready for our arrival. There is a 10 o’clock PM curfew in the kids on site park which is a brilliant idea. Very friendly family orientated caravan park. Shops and take aways just half mile up the road if you haven’t got what you need. There is also a site shop somewhere but we didn’t look for it as wasn’t needed this time. The pool was closed due to COVID and was missed by us all but that was out of everyone’s control. Hopefully it will be open next year. I work very hard all year and this relaxing holiday is so needed.

River Valley Holiday park. Is the very best site that I have ever been to. It delivers exceptional service from all its staff. They take care to insure that you are getting the accomadation that you had exspected to get. Our accomadtion was cleaned to a very high standard and we were very pleased with it. They sold all the basic food like bread, butter, milk on site, but they had a larger shop and cafe only a short walk down a country lane. The site was secured with a coded barrier entry system. The site was constantly being kept cleaned and there was plenty of bins to use for recycling and waste.

Sorry only just seen your question. We did use buses but we don't have a dog so not sure if they go on buses. Can't see any reason why not though.
