This pub served very good Sunday dinner in three sizes. We order the small as we had eaten a while before and it was plenty. All the veg well cooked. Definitely would go again. We also went there for the quiz and pizza night and we ordered the cheese and spinach pizza, it was great best pizza I have had in a long time. The staff were so friendly the barman loaned me £2 bless him so we could join the quiz, which we paid back a couple of days later. We came.last but it was a bit of fun. Definitely a pub to visit they serve breakfast lunch and dinner

We have just returned from a 4 night break in cornwall,we based ourselves at this quaint little pub,as it was a short drive to lots of places to visit, looe (35 mins) plymouth(40mins)the pub and room was very clean, and they adhered to the covid guidelines extremely well.the room we stayed in could have done with somewhere to hang clothes as the hooks provided were not really fit for purpose, the shower was powerful, the food good and for 60 pounds per night bed and breakfast the value for money is brilliant,we spent a few evenings In the bar and the customers and staff were all very friendly,we will definitely stay again if in the area

I so wanted to give a good review of the Devon and Cornwall-my mother was publican there years ago, and I am fond of it. Good points-pub good, a real, proper pub, of the sort almost extinct in many areas. Had a bath and shower. One mark for each of these. No other marks given. For any price, but especially £80 a night, it was poor, Pub noise till closing, and then drunk guests arguing and having love life troubles in the corridor of the accommodation, I can not fault the pub for-it's just bad luck it happened while we were there. However, the bed was TERRIBLE! The worst bed I have slept in these last forty years! A very poor, cheap mattress, and - in the bedroom where we were, very poorly positioned, as the sloping floor meant we were at an uncomfortable angle with head down all night. Well, not all night- from the time the corridor racket stopped at about 1 am, to the time I had to get up as I had such back ache at 5am-so 4 hours, was an uncomfortable, wakeful, increasingly painful 'night'. The room was very small with one small rickety cheap self-assembly wardrobe, only one bedside table and light (double bed) -not enough room for another. It amused me that the sash window was exactly as I remembered it, too- same crack and broken sash so that it needed propping open! So, a bad night that gave us both backache and little sleep. We had to leave the next morning so had to be up before we could face the full English breakfast. We had tea and cereal/toast - butter only provided, no marmalade or jam. We also had to say the time we were going to breakfast the evening before, .The staff were helpful and nice throughout. So, not worth £80. Lesson learnt! Travelodge/premier inn next time- guaranteed a good bed and only £30 or so, and you please yourself for breakfast. I believe there is one in Saltash.......

I stayed at Devon and Cornwall on the 27th and 28th as we were having a family party in the town. We arrived at about 4 and there was nobody to check us in as there was only a young girl looking after the bar and she apologised as she needed the landlady’s phone to check us in which she did when she could leave the bar and she showed us to our room. It’s a good job she charged my card before and not on checkout as i would not have paid. The room was dusty and the shower had no pressure and little hot water while the front of the shower falls off. I said it will be grand and used relatives shower who live in the village. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast and we said 8 or 8:30 and would it be possible to watch Ireland in the ruby we were told this would be no problem. We had dinner (average at best) and drinks in the bar that night and the next morning got up for breakfast. There were 2 ladies cleaning and we asked about the rugby but they new nothing and couldn’t work the television. I had to go behind the bar to work this out with their permission we then had to set up our own tables for breakfast where we could see the tv. We ordered breakfast which took an hour and a half to come to the table after about 40 minutes we went to the kitchen to see if we could get tea or coffee while we waited. Pouched egg consisted of one egg on one small slice of toast and a boiled egg and toast for my daughter came with one slice of toast we had to request more toast butter and milk as they were not provided the breakfast was served to us by the cleaner who was filthy as she was scrubbing floors and other things. Now it’s only my opinion but front of house (when it exists) should present themselves clean and mannerly. On our 2nd night we had a family party in the village so myself and my sister arrived home in the early hours or the morning but our key didn’t work in the front door we had to stand outside until we could wake her husband and young child to let us in. The next morning we got up for breakfast and we were met by a lovely lady in uniform to be told I’m sorry but the girl who does breakfast hasn’t shown in and she will try to accommodate us but she was only there to cook a roast dinner. She looked after us and did make a lovely breakfast but again there was no staff to be seen. I asked her how would I check out and she didn’t know so I ended up just putting the keys behind the bar. The level of basic service and customer service shown to me and my family on this weekend was a disgrace and I would love to know why as it was not a cheap weekend. I would love to hear a response to this and I feel at the least we should be given some compensation in relation to this. I would also at this point like to stress the young girl behind the bar did try but does not have the experience but was so mannerly and really did try to keep the place going. I sent the above complaint by email but they didn’t even acknowledge it.
