The hotel itself is located on the river so 5 stars for location, the rooms are good service is again good. The only issue is that the car park us not secured and us prone to burglaries my car was broken into and so was another car in the. Parking the night I was there. There are no CCTV, Even...

A recent overnight stay here brought back some happy memories of a wedding i attended several years ago. If you have not been here then do visit. A little quirky, a little tired in places, full of character with service as it should be. Entry is by footbridge from the free car park. Bray [and yes Heston's place] is a...

My Aussie bloke and I were visiting friends in Maidenhead, and wanted to find a reasonably-priced hotel nearby. Finding something in this area that doesn't break the bank is rare, unless you're happy in a Premier Inn-style place. What luck! We stumbled on a last-minute deal at Monkey Island and enjoyed our stay immensely. It was a quiet week, and...

Lunch for 10 gentlemen with long-standing business connections was booked by one of our number as a "celebration" of the 25th Anniversary of our coming together. We were allocated the Garden Room ( I think) which turned out to be apart from the main hotel, and lacked any "warmth" or character. Service was painfully slow; the food wasn't bad but...

This establishment has cancelled my god daughters wedding by email: just like that. They have not even returned the deposit let alone compensated them. None of their documents seem to have the name of the company which took the booking and the money and despite being asked by email and registered post on 6th October for that information they have...

We were married at monkey island on the 16/10. It truly was the most magical perfect day. The venue was beautiful and the staff were so friendly and helpful! The food was very tasty, prompt and hot. The bridal suite (Wedgwood suite) we stayed in was stunning and our guests were very complimentary about their rooms. I understand that the...

Stayed here for one night midweek ,to find place almost empty( one other room let for certain). Found out in village that the hotel has been sold ( to a Malaysian company) and will close at end of Oct for gutting and refurb before reopening late 2016. It is a fantastic setting on a small island in the Thames accessed...

Sadly I went with some work colleagues and it was almost as bad as the last time. Food, service, cleanliness and attitude of staff is appalling. The manger could not be bothered to see us and address the issues. Also I would be weary of eating anything here especially as we found several dubious thick hairs in the meal. Rancid.

The only good thing to say about this place is the location and grounds and indeed the grounds are the only thing that are looked after. The rooms are like something out of the 1980s and I'm not sure they have been touched since then - the tiles in my bathroom were virtually falling off and were black with mould...

Lovely location and nice looking hotel but don't expect luxury or service. Rooms clean but think Travelodge - no minibar, mine didn't have wifi, small square of soap, bath plug didn't work and shower/taps furred up. Rooms apparently don't have individual thermostat - some rooms of party were massively too hot. Sheet-covered blanket vs duvet and v basic quality bed...
