As a group of 10 we were searching for a place to come for a hen do. We were told this was possible as long as we admired by social distancing - perfect! We were taken upstairs to the wine lounge for our meal (at table of 8 & 4). There were no vegan options and when asked, no one gave us answers until we chased it up and were told that the request was ‘forgotten’ about. We were given very little option afterwards for this. The drinks orders took far too long too arrive considering there was us & another table of 6 on the floor. One of our group members was challenged about her exemption of a mask and isolated from attending the bar downstairs because of this. It is not a legal requirement to produce evidence of exemption. We were the taken downstairs by a lovely gent called Steve. I ordered via the bar, as advised, and was told I had to go upstairs to order cocktails, so I did. I was the told I had to order via the app and not upstairs but the gentleman allowed me to order and delivered our drinks to the table along with a QR code. Last orders was called just before 11:10pm, we ordered (as a table) at 11:19pm and was told by a female waitress that we had gone past the last orders deadline. She offered us pornstar martini (nobody ordered that) or a refund. When I accepted a refund she asked for my card, however I had used my online card and did not have my actual card available. I went to the bar and asked for either the cocktails or a refund and was told that they did not have the ingredients for the cocktails and so would have to have refund but had I have ordered 10mins previous, they would have had the ingredients - very strange to me. I, again, said that I did not have my card and the gentleman behind the bar said “Look, I don’t want to fall out love”, I said that I had received very poor service all night and I just want a refund. He said nothing nothing more, went away and a woman behind the bar then under me my refund in cash. I have found the service at Burntwood very poor and would not recommend coming here for a meal or an evening due to this. Very disappointing.

We recently stayed here for two nights as a couple. The rooms are spacious. Which made me wonder why all the furniture is so small. A double bed could have been kingsize and the tiny corner shower could've been much bigger - even a bath and a shower could have been included. All the drawers are low, and the dresser has no seat - you have to kneel on the floor to look in the mirror. The room was clean enough if you ignored the many stains on the carpet. And I would expect pillow protectors underneath the pillow cases as a matter of hygiene but they were lacking, We had booked evening meal in the Woodlands Restaurant. We confirmed the time of our booking with reception. However, when it came to the appointed time we were directed to the pub, as the restaurant was closed. I understand we've been in lockdown but feel that at the time of booking or at the time of our confirming the time of the booking we should have been told that we were going to be in a noisy bar not a restaurant... this was our first trip away since before the pandemic and we wanted a nice experience. The meal was good enough, and we retired to our room. We'd had a long day and needed some rest. Well I could have died from a heart attack... the fire alarm went off at 1.30am. I sat bolt upright and screamed.. i was disorientated... and jarred my neck in the process. About 30 seconds later the alarm stopped. No one walked through to tell us it was a fire or a false alarm or anything. Imagine my alarm when the alarm again went off at 5.30 am! Again it stopped after about 30 seconds. In the morning we approached reception. We told the receptionist about the alarm. She didn't look up from her monitor but said "Yes, the night porter told me. There was a problem in one of the rooms...room 40. Sorry about that." ( I believe there are other hotels guaranteeing a good nights rest or your money back!) Our second night passed without incident, we ventured out for evening meal, and we chose not to eat the breakfast in the hotel on either morning. We had to ask to be refunded for the two days breakfast (£48!) which had been charged. Farmer Copleys nearby does an amazing breakfast with lots of vegetarian and pescatarian choices for less ££ by the way.

We booked in for Sunday lunch in the silver service restaurant. The tables were spaced a good distance apart and it was warm enough to have windows open. The staff were all very helpful but some were training which meant it wasn’t as “silver” as it could have been. The food was very good and good value if you have 3 courses and tea/coffee. However, it tends to get expensive if you don’t eat 3 courses.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days. The room was very dull, an not just because of the lamp not working. The bed was very uncomfortable, I did not enjoy my stay one bit. For the room rate I would expect alot more comfort.
