Recently spent 4 nights here. It's in a good location, more or less in the centre of town, and about a 10 minute walk from the railway station. The room was great, with aircon and decent sized TV. No noise from other guests/stamping feet above or anything. I never tried the bar/restuarant so can't comment on that, but for a place to kip it's great, and Barnsley is a good central location to explore Yorkshire. Definitely would stay here again if I'm in the area.

Booked 2 rooms for family. One was booked as a disabled access. Booked online. When we finally found the hotel and only then found out we had to pay £5 a day for parking, we were told one room was on floor one the other on floor four. Spoke with the receptionist who was rude and abrupt. She moved my disabled son to the same floor as the rest of the family. She said his room was disabled access. It was a standard family room. My son had problems manovering his wheelchair in the room and was unable to use the bathroom. We were not asked if we needed help in the event the hotel had to be evacuated. Other hotels have always shown us this curtesy.

Clean and parking was free at the weekend. The bed base kept creaking as we moved. There was no one in reception to complain to but we were only staying one night. The bed was one of the reasons we chose Premier Inn. It was a let down . Room 322

We stayed Saturday night into Sunday and were disappointed with our stay. Upon arrival, there was no receptionist. We were left to check in using a machine that was complicated to first time users and when we were confused and looking for staff, we couldn’t find any. When we finally reached our room, we discovered we were placed at the very end of the long corridor, opposite a loud bar, even though the hotel appeared to be very quiet. In the room, we found our bathroom light to be broken and then we realised there was no telephone in the room for us to call reception. When we googled the hotels number, we could only find a number that charges to call. We went down to reception to report our broken light and again couldn’t see any staff members. Later on when there was finally a receptionist, we asked if we could have some fresh milk to take to the room. The staff member told us if we wanted fresh milk then we would need to go the shop. We have never experienced this in a hotel before as this is such a common request. Over night, there were loud guests above us which appeared as though they were running on the corridors. We rang reception to report this, using the number that charges to call, for reception to not answer the phone. Overall we are very unhappy with our stay. We usually have such a pleasant experience at premier Inns but this was the worst we’ve had.

Not knowing Barnsley we were pleasantly surprised that the hotel was in such a good location - loved the forecourt enclosed so felt safe to sit outside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room just as expected, clean and fresh!
