My wife made reservations for us here before I had read the reviews for the hotel on Trip Advisor. Many of them were very poor, so poor that we thought of cancelling and staying elsewhere .... but we ended up deciding to try the hotel. I can't understand the bad reviews. The public rooms are clean, comfortable and interesting; perhaps...

Stayed one Friday night for £99 B&B whilst attending a company party (elsewhere). The room was distinctly average. Nothing wrong with it but certainly not luxurious. Awkward positioning of the small wall mounted TV at entrance to the bathroom. Bathroom was small. Plenty of very hot high pressured water but this meant juggling the separate taps to get the shower...

Whether it is at the restaurant or front desk, I find them very courteous and attentive. Even though I stayed during winter time, the room temperature is maintained very well so was nice and comfy inside. My only suggestion will be to change the soap bar as it hardly does its job properly, producing little lather to have a good...

We held our wedding reception here in November 2014 and it was absolutely magical. The whole experience from planning the day with the extremely attentive and experienced Phoebe, through to the big day itself was faultless. First and foremost The Old Bell is a restaurant and hotel, as opposed to a wedding venue but the team rose to the occasion...

Having proposed to my wife 30 years ago in the old bell I decided to buy her an eternity ring having the birthstones of our children and grandchild. Even better I booked a two day stay in a deluxe room, we were not disappointed. The ambiance was superb, the large room overlooked the abbey, the en-suite had both a bath...

We had a lovely stay at the old bell on new years eve. We were attending a wedding near by and this was great. Lovely room but very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom and the TV didn't work. Breakfast was good the staff were helpful and friendly. Overall a really nice stay, very comfortable. Excellent service from the local...

Our family live in Malmesbury but their lovely little Victorian house would burst at the seams for a long Christmas stopover so it was the Bell again. Had booked a Superior room - happened to be on the top floor - a room with all ye olde beams - (ours was James Ody) do not sleep on beam side if...

Enticed in by the proclamation of 'The oldest hotel in England' we were very excited to explore inside this hotel and enjoy its hospitality. Whilst a beautiful building with lots of character, we were thoroughly disappointed with the poor service that meant a coffee and 4 hot (or should I say cold) chocolates took 30 mins to serve, then without...

We have been many times to eat at the Old Bell, and and have always had a good meal. We visited again over the Christmas holiday, the staff are brilliant and very welcoming, the food is excellent and good value. The manager ; Vincent is very good at his job and a nice bloke, we will be back. A big...

We booked at the last minute and took the only available room left - which was in the Coach House extension round the back - on a DBB basis. The dinner was really rather excellent (and I may review this separately under their restaurant listing on TA), but to avoid doubt, the remainder of this review concerns the hotel itself....
