Visited yesterday for lunch with my son, we had been here before and was not disappointed. We ordered our food and drinks, I asked if they served small 20cl bottles of Prosecco, yes, they do, which I ordered. However, I was disappointed to see the waiter bring the drinks to the table from the bar, spilling the content of the...

Visited with my year old Lab, who managed to knock over two chairs and make a mess in the first 5 minutes. But the staff instead of asking us to leave, were lovely, and so understanding, and got us settled in a corner table. The food was delicious... We had the antipasti platter, which has lots of beautifully cured meats,...

popped in here for lunch with my brother on bank holiday Monday. First impressions were good, very smart dining room and reasonable choice on the menu. However we waited nearly an hour for our food, and when it arrived I was really disappointed. My cheese and chutney sandwich was all chutney (horribly sweet with no tang) and little cheese, and...

Great old traditional pub/hotel. Wonderful building with loads of old features. We had a amazing room/suite the en suite was huge with roll top bath and shower...it was bigger then other bedroom we have stayed in elsewhere!! Lovely little touches like cotton wool and bath bombs in the bathroom were a lovely addition. Busy pub also, dog friendly, parking and...

A group of 24 walkers. Although we had booked in for a meal for 12.30pm it was 1.45pm before the food arrived by which time we were all thoroughly fed up. Perhaps they kept us waiting so that we would drink more? The veggie burger was Ok, the accompanying salad was pathetic, wilted leaves and chopped peppers in a small...

Stayed in Courtyard room 8. It was damp and overheated, the bathroom had not been properly cleaned (dirty floor and soap dish, crumbling plaster and cobwebs) and the manager's flat above the courtyard rooms was the scene of a late night get-together. We were kept awake between 1am and 3am (Saturday night/Sunday morning) by heavy footed people running about on...

Stayed at The White Lion Hotel in March as we were watching a gig at the local club there , when we arrived at 3pm we were told that they were awaiting our bedding coming but it shouldn't be long , we were allowed to go to the room . The room was really nice, we had booked the best...

Lovely staff, very welcoming, dog friendly in some parts of pub and even offered my fur baby a bowl of fresh water, the food was impeccable, can honestly say probably the best I have had from a pub, all completely home made, fresh and very tasty, it is a little expensive when you first look at the menu but it's...

We stayed here as part of a off season deal where dinner, b&b is included if you book a premier room. It was good value anyway as the large room was really spacious and breakfast was so good, but with dinner included too it became brilliant value. Really lovely staff, mature beyond their age, serving top notch food. Definitely eat...

My brother and I stayed here when visiting family who live locally. This hotel was spotlessly clean, friendly, professional, comfortable and it has excellent food and drinks. I would recommend it to anyone!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Lion is a traditional coaching inn; with exposed timber and masonry, an abundance of comfortable corners to hide in, and always a warm and friendly atmosphere. Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards. ... more   less
