Called here for lunch and I ordered a Roast Chicken Salad. Priced at £12.95 I expected it to be colourful, tasty and imaginative. It was none of these things. The majority of the bowl was filled with tasteless spiky stalks and although there was nothing wrong with it, for what it cost it was poor value. Most salads come with bread... More

Noise from overhead meant getting dressed to cross the courtyard to complain. No telephone in room. Strong smell of bleach in the room gave me a headache. Far from ideal for business with breakfast served from 8am when we really needed to be back on the road by then. On the plus side, it's important to support Hebden Bridge which... More

We went for an impromptu meal after initially going in for a post work drink. We are both veggie and although not a huge choice went for the Mediterranean burger and wild mushroom risotto. The burger was fabulous, fresh tasty ingredients served in brioche with lovely salad and crispy chunky chips. The risotto was the best I've had. Loads of... More

Had room in main part of the building . which was warm and comfortable. With the added features of the building of this age the floor slopeing , the only gripe was room was over the bar so there is some noise from the bar . but the bar does close on time at which point all the noise ceases... The white lion hotel is an excellent small boutique hotel with well decorated spacious rooms. The pub downstairs is warm and friendly with a lovely ambiance. We had an evening meal off the gastropub menu and we all enjoyed our starters and main courses, with the generous portion size there was no room for puddings. Breakfast was good if not... More

Friendly , helpful staff in this lovely old inn near the heart of Hebden Bridge. We were in the main building. Our bedroom was upstairs from the bar but at ground level to the pavement, due to the hilly nature of the area. The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable with a cosy feel, even though it was below freezing... More

Popped in here on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Greeted by a friendly face and quickly found a table. Roaring open fires and cosy furniture/decor. Can only comment on the sandwiches we had, but they were fab. Home made soup was delicious too. Good range of beers and a well kept Taylor's Landlord. Wish we'd been able to stay longer. Dog... We were visiting Hebden Bridge to go to a concert at The Trades Club. The Lion is pretty much the only hotel in the centre of Hebden Bridge and is an old coaching inn with only a handful of rooms. We had a very comfortable stay and a delicious breakfast. Recommended.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Lion is a traditional coaching inn; with exposed timber and masonry, an abundance of comfortable corners to hide in, and always a warm and friendly atmosphere. Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards. ... more   less
