A charming hotel, which interior decoration in traditional Tibetan style. It's my favourite spot in town, rooms on the street side, are spacious and have a kang bed. Avoid the rooms (211) close by the stairs, very noisy. Labrang monastery is about 10-15min walking distance, from 8:30 you need to buy an entrance ticket, 40rmb/person. Local bread, yogurt and noodles next to the hotel, in the same street. Local shopping is good on one of the courtyards on the main street. There are also some restaurants. The hotel is definitely recommended!
This hotel is within easy walking distance to the monastery. It is basic and colourfully decorated. Toilet is all in one so after shower, the whole bathroom is drenched. Hot water only in pm because solar heated system. Beds on the firm side. Very affordable.
Tibetan style guesthouse,we were the only guests the beds are hard like most 3 star hotels in China. We had 2 foam matresses placed on single beds which we saw in breakfast area for seating so we took them for beds which helped. Nirvana hotel run by canadian lady should have softer beds they also have western food as well as local if u want a change. Menu good as food Breakfast was bread ,jam , tea ,coffee, egg, yak yogurt which was average. We bought bananas to have with yogurt. Jad to tell off staff and electricians at 10.30pm because they were installing electronic signs on each room which they were doing through the day and started at 9.30pm again. We thought they were finishing at this start time but hour later still noisy. They laughed when i complained so i sat in hall till they got my point i was not going anywhere till they left the hotel ,they were not laughing when i sat and stared till they packed up and left. Staff not much english but translator can help. Rooms clean and decor Tibetan style but basic. Small town plenty great hotels all walking easily around and to monestary.…
Bao Ma is a very charming hotel, which interior decoration in tradition tibetan style. The moment you walk into it, you will surely go "wah......" then your head will go up, left, right....continue to "wah...." :-) That was we responded when we stepped into it. Beside that, its just located opposite the Labrang monastery. There is a small hill near the hotel you can climb up to have the view of the whole monastery. The local market is within walking distance, so does the shops and restaurants. The only drawback is that, if you come in cold season, there is no heater in the room.
It is a convenient clean hotel but take cash with you as no credit card facilities in hotel or any bank in town. Interesting small family run business. Convenient for Monastery shops and restaurants. Norland Café for coffee and cake or Yoghurt with fruit. Or try Coffee top. Monastery is the biggest in Tibet these days and good for a day visit.
