We booked a 3 night special "pensioners breakaway" in the caves at Kagga Kamma. Heard so much about "the Caves" - but never met anybody who had been there. When Kagga Kamma is mentioned, the first thing that is normally said is "the place with the accommodation in caves". The +/- 34 km of dirt road to Kagga Kamma is...

Kagga Kamma was an incredible experience while on our honeymoon! The service in the rooms and restaurant was outstanding and the food (Compliments to the Chef) as incredible as the beautiful sunset we drank in on our Sunset drive! We managed to see some wildlife while on our quad bike drive which really made it exceptional! Our Ranger Guide 'PJ',...

We recently spent 4 nights at Kagga Kamma. We were lucky with the weather as it was sunny for the duration of our stay if a bit chilly. We elected to stay in one of the huts because they each have a bath and actually are more private than the caves which we inspected later. The caves are a novelty and...

We were booked in a De Luxe Hut for 3 nights at the end of May, 2015. It is an enjoyable trip from Durbanville to Kagga Kamma. Scenery changes constantly. The laste 50km or so were gravel road, but very well maintained. We were driving in a 4x4, but a normal saloon car will easily cope. Reception was very friendly...

GO FOR: peace and quiet, nature and stars. DON'T GO FOR: Activities, Food, or Wildlife viewing. A long dirt road leads past amazing rock formations that look like giants tried playing stack-a-rock. You arrive at Kagga Kamma and go to your self catering chalet, nicely separated from everyone else. The view is peaceful and serene. The stars come out. It's...

Nice accommodation, caves are small but a great experience. The stars are unbelievably beautiful because there is just nothing else around. Only let down was the long dirt road but one can get over that. Game drives are pricey but we felt it was worth it, especially the sunset & rock paintings drive which you spot the animals on anyway. Romantic...

If you want to "really" impress your lady and "FEEL" Africa, this is the place to visit! The cave rooms are stunning. "The Out Crop room" however,is, without doubt where you will feel like a King or Queen of your own romantic hide away. Crisp white linen, a fluffy duvet and nothing but a blanket of stars overhead whilst you...

The air here was so good that's worth the trip alone. But happily, everything else was also very good. We stayed in a cave, which was quite nice. It seemed to be newly remodeled. We did all the different game drives, and especially enjoyed the sunset drive and night drives we did with Leonard (Lohan). He was incredibly enthusiastic and...

We only spent one night, but definitely wished we'd booked more. Everything about this place was amazing. From the Cave we slept in, to the food and activities. The gravel road is a bit long and rocky but so much fun...it just prepares you for the adventure ahead.

After three blissful nights spent in the luxury of one of the houses in Tankwa Karoo National Park with no electricity or cell phone reception but with a huge house for two people with not another soul in sight at R1000 per night we thought we would continue this luxury with one of the highly advertised 'caves' at Kagga Kamma....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kagga Kamma is an absolute treat for travellers seeking a unique and inspiring experience. On your visit you will see a part of Africa that is unlike any other. The Cederberg Mountain’s otherworldly rock formations, a crisp sky stretching endlessly overhead and beautiful rock art from an ancient culture, is the backdrop to a wonderful adventure. Kagga Kamma’s accommodation options are as unique as the landscape it is set in. The Bushman Lodge offers spacious en-suite thatched rondavels/huts. The famous 'cave suites' built against the sandstone rock formations will take you back to a prehistoric time without taking away any modern-day luxuries. Kagga Kamma also offers a one of a kind Outcrop open-air “room” where guests can sleep under the stars in sheer luxury - definitely a not-to-be-missed experience.Speaking of the stars...Take a tour into the milky way when you visit our mini-observatory. It promises to be an inspirational experience when you view the Karoo night skies through our 10-inch telescope. While the sun is out you can opt for a journey back in time with our popular rock art tours. Our expert ranger will interpret the 6000 year old Bushmen paintings and living sites scattered all across the nature reserve.Other activities to be enjoyed at Kagga Kamma include relaxing nature drives with our knowledgeable guides, hiking trails, quad bike safaris, mountain bike trails, a 4x4 route and our Kagga Kamma Relax Spa. Even eating out at Kagga Kamma will be a matchless experience when you visit the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and an outdoor lapa surrounded by beautiful rock formations for dinner under the starlit night skies in summer time. There is also a pub and lounge area with Wi-Fi internet, as well as satellite television for watching sports events. GPS co-ordinates:Latitude: S 32 44 45Longitude: E 19 33 46 ... more   less
