We stayed here for 5 nights exploring the area. We were made to feel very welcome by Sue and Andy and their team and the locals were very friendly giving us suggestions as to places we should visit. Rooms were very comfortable with little touches like cotton wool and tissues and plenty of mirrors (ladies reading this will understand this...

Spent 5 great nights here, we were two couples looking for a base to discover Northumberland and could not have chosen better. Great staff, rooms and food plus the beer was good too. We were made welcome not only by the staff but the locals as well. Would not hesitate to go back again.

We stayed the past two nights here as we explored Hadrian's Wall. The Inn sits on the old Roman road Stanegate and dates from the 12th Century, but the rooms are comfortable and modern. The pub is lively, with local cask ales available. The staff is very friendly and the food is fantastic! Didn't look elsewhere for dinner or breakfast...

We didn't actually stay at the Red Lion, just stopped to enjoy a pint and a light meal at the end of a magnificent downhill stretch of the Hadrian's Wall Cycleway. Since somehow it had been neglected to put a put at the top of the hill, we had to settle... Oh well. Red Lion offered a great stop, friendly...

Called for a bite to eat. No gluten free meals on menu but chef came to see us and then made a delicious meal for my husband, I had a meal from the lunch time menu. Neither of us was disappointed. Good quality food, excellent service, very reasonable prices.

Room is very basic with creepy noises due to the age of the building. A horrible bad smell made the stay uncomfortable, but the delicious food and very helpful and friendly staff made our stay positive. Ideal as a base to discover Hadrian's Wall!

We spent three nights here in order to explore Hadrian's Wall. All the staff but especially the managers were super-friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had an en-suite twin room directly over the bar. It was small but very clean and adequate for a 3 night stay. We were a bit apprehensive being over the bar but...

Not a 5star hotel, but enjoyed my stay in this historic Inn. The floors creaked a bit and the room I had was small. But what do you expect from a pub built around 1190 and on a road that has been there since before Hadrian's Wall. The beer was good and so were the evening meals and the full...

We stayed at the Red Lion this weekend (20th August) for a site-seeing trip to Hadrian's Wall. I heartily recomend this hotel, a tiny place that used to be a coaching in. The rooms were very clean and comfortable if a little small but you have to understand that the place was built several centuries ago!, (An Inn has been...

Spent one night last week and got to say just excellent. Clean comfortable room at a very fair price but perhaps the best part was the more than excellent food . Unexpected perfection well done and we will be back ( we hope ) ! Thank you . Very good location for a walk on the wall
