Our first stay at the Timberline lodge. Beautiful lodge and very hospitable staff. Our only complaint was the room. We had a double bed which was very, very squeaky when we moved. Room itself was very small and bathroom was even smaller. You could not keep your toiletries in their at all. For the price I don't think it was... More

Have lived in Oregon for 40 years and hadn't visited, always on the way somewhere else or with youngsters. But we finally made it and I was blown away. This is a classic lodge with quality materials and a fantastic setting. Yes, the rooms are small, but go out to the lobbies and the soaring timbers. Take the time to... More

First time visiting the Columbia River Gorge and Mt Hood area so Timberline Lodge seemed to be the right place to overnight. It's a beautiful historic lodge with great public areas to lounge in and spectacular view of the mountains. The standard guest room however is very small, ours had a double bed, dresser, 15 inch flat panel TV, no... More

Just a truly amazing place! The architecture, building details, and staff make this a wonderful place to stay. It will be different than any place you've ever stayed, as it still is as it was in the 30s. When you are here remember everything you will see, touch or experience was handmade-over 80 years ago.

We stopped in for hot drink but we were too early and snow was falling. So we popped in the gift shop and August was amazing his customer service even better for someone his age and the Pinot Grigio beef jerky was so worth the trip.

Bring your out of town, out of state, out of country guests to see this National Historical Landmark near Mt. Hood. One of the best and most informative guided tours ever! You will love the rustic nature of this huge facility. Hard to believe this huge Lodge was built during the Depression Era (1930's) and with local materials. Admire the... More

It's amazing that a place as expensive and as nice as Timberline Lodge has uncomfortable beds. They seem fancy with all the down and comforts, but the underlying bed is shot. My cousin's room had the same problem. Make a comment when you check out - I did. Ask for a room with a new bed. That said, Timberline Lodge... More

So many times have been here and it is always a great building. Wonderful classic construction, superb setting, wonderful environment, good hiking even on a rainy cold windy day. Very good customer service, pricey food and drink, fantastic views. The basic room was comfortable and homey. The Rams Head bar had well made cocktails and the local beers on tap... More

Stayed for one night with our 11 year old twins. We had a great time. The lodge is beautiful. We loved the history and rusticness of the place. Service was also very good. Very gracious and professional service. Everyone seemed so friendly and happy to be there to help. We had set up a family board game at a table... More

I stayed two nights at the lodge for a wedding, a wonderful experience as far as service and food and I loved the character of the lodge room. I also liked that the bathroom appeared to have a new shower and fixtures in keeping with the vintage feel of the room. HOWEVER, there was only one fairly short towel bar... More

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your visit. I want you to know many guests have commented on the need for a shelve or towel rack in the bathrooms. We are in the process of getting a additional shelve approved to be installed. It is a simple fix and we agree with these observations... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977, Timberline Lodge is one of Oregon's most popular tourist attractions, drawing nearly two million visitors every year. Considered an architectural wonder, it's still being used for its original intent-a magnificent ski lodge and mountain retreat for all to enjoy. Timberline Lodge is filled with amazing spaces that beg enjoyment. The main headhouse lobby features three fireplaces at the base of a 90 foot chimney. The outdoor patios offer the most stunning views in Oregon. The outdoor pool is heated and open year round. With so many places to explore all under one roof, you'll feel as if the Lodge is an extension of your guest room. Each room in Timberline Lodge has a unique rustic elegance, yet a modern and comfortable feel. All rooms have period furnishings, artwork and decor. Enjoy fresh powder feather beds, the year 'round heated pool, spa and sauna. Rooms range from premier fireplace rooms to European style bunk rooms. Regardless of which room suits you best, they all share an authentic sense of place found only in one of the Historic Hotels of America. Timberline offers the longest ski season in North America. The winter season typically begins early to mid-November and continues through Memorial Day. Our Palmer Express high-speed quad lift allows us to operate later into the summer season than anyone else (usually through Labor Day). Many years, we're open for fall skiing as well. ... more   less
