This place was wonderful! Everyone is so friendly and you couldnt want for anything! The homemade scons Terri made were amazing! The tasting was great we enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful surrondings and Loved the pool and jucuzzi.
This was our first taste of Oregon cabs and it didn’t disappoint. Our hostess was knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting room is rustic and unpretentious. We took home a bottle of the 2016 Cab and a Forza (a port style wine) and thoroughly enjoyed the Cab later that night.
We stayed for 2 nights 11th and 12th July on our way from Seattle to San Francisco. Needed a break from driving the Interstates and the big cities. This is a great little winery in the middle of beautiful surroundings in the Umpqua wine region - Jim and Terri were on a little trip (we met them the second day) so Paris met us and made us feel welcome. We had a glass of very nice wine in the shade while the cottage was given the final touches. The cottage was just right - large open plan sitting room with kitchen, and bedroom with separate bathroom. And a very nice bottle of wine with some cheese and biscuits waiting. Air conditioning unit in the sitting room managed to keep the whole cottage cool. Lovely little lap pool with a couple of loungers on the shady terrace overlooking the small lake, and lots of peace and quiet. Did an "official" tasting on day 2 and they make some very nice wine ......... Not much to do except relax, but that was the whole point. We Visited a couple of neighbouring vineyards for tastings, got some provisions from the nearby store, walked a little bit of the grounds and sat in the shade and read. Fantastic ! It helped that the weather was so beautiful too........ Breakfast was included - fantastic home made scones and a huge fruit bowl with yoghurt and juice etc. with fresh coffee. A good start to the day. Met the owners Jim and Terri on the second day - Jim gave us the story of the winery and was very friendly and interesting to talk to. We were sorry to leave after day 2 but just had to hit the road again .....…
We arrived close to 5:00 Friday when the tasting room closes. Terri gave us a tour of the grounds and our own private tasting. Delfino’s wine is delightful! We drove the short distance to town for dinner then came back to avail ourselves of the pleasant (hot but not too hot) outdoor hot tub and fell into bed. Quiet and idyllic. Saturday we hiked the vineyard in the company of two of the dogs. It was cloudy but warm, birds serenaded us and there were wild flowers everywhere. We returned to our pantry breakfast (Terri and Jim left us fresh eggs from their chickens, fruit, granola, muffins- so much great fare) and then toured the area to various venues to taste wine. A delightful afternoon but we were happy to return home to Delfino. This morning Jim came over with fresh fruit, and incredible scones. We feel like honored guests. They were available when we needed something but left us to enjoy the site and do as we wanted (I haven’t slept in this late in years!) We are going to become wine club members so we have to come back at least to pick up our wine and I’d bet we’ll be staying here again soon, Terri and Jim are such great hosts.…
This short stop was a highlight of our trip from Seattle to Creasant City. The owners were so friendly and the wine was really good too. This was a small boutique winery in a very pretty part of southern Oregon. Certainly worth the venture off of I-5.
