I visited during the pandemic so the restaurant/bar was not open, but the stay was amazing! The staff are incredible and the service was amazing. It’s also right around the corner from Deadstock which is an amazing coffee shop. Highly recommend this hotel!
I spent two nights here on business and after my experience, it's hard to imagine ever staying somewhere else when visiting the City of Roses. The Hoxton felt like a new home away from home - from their local selection of beer and wine behind the front desk to the music playing in the lobby - I felt like a PNW native before my first night had ended. The beautiful architecture and decor were only elevated by the staff's impeccable service. They were as personable as they were professional. After checking in, Thomas gave me personal recommendations (not a google search) of places to visit in the area. These proved to be excellent suggestions that I would have never stumbled upon on my own. The rooms are small, but as a solo traveler, they fit just right. The hand soap, body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner were worth the stay on their own. Overall, had a wonderful time and can't wait to return!…
Can’t say enough amazing things about this hotel and it’s staff/facilities/decor! Not only are they dog-loving and accepting at no charge, they are so gracious and helpful throughout entirety of stay.
Where do I start with The Hoxton? For starters (and visitors to Portland), The Hoxton has been and still is my favorite getaway place in Portland. The ambience is warm, the dining spaces inviting (even in COVID-19 times), every open chair in flocked velvet and brimming with hundreds of lush houseplants (the entire lobby is a plant dad's paradise). I came here in October and November 2019 with my boyfriend and we had a blast. The floors above the lobby are quiet and pleasantly lit, and depending on which room you get (from the Snug to the more roomier offerings upstairs), you'll feel perfectly at home. There are ton of interesting books on the shelves, art in the elevators. The Blank line of soaps smell great and OMG THE SHOWERS. THE SHOWERS HAVE THE BEST WATER PRESSURE and if you're looking for a Knot Springs-like experience, the showers at The Hoxton are soooo good. I was here again in February 2021 because we were displaced by a terrible ice storm that knocked out power and heat in our house. What had been a very stressful week was made into a relaxing getaway by our guest services person August and Tessa. They diligently worked hard to ensure my finicky roommate had enough hand towels and my elderly landlord could relax with breakfast in the morning. They got me an upgraded King room (so that I could decompress), and offered me snacks, beverages. Those worried that the Hoxton has run out of merch, be not dismayed! I was able to buy the beautiful OLO x Hoxton collab fragrance, as well as the Claws Out nail polish (which I have gotten compliments on. Their collabs with local brands like MAAK Lab is also worthy of note. If you like brassy, mid-century modern furnishings with a slightly shabby chic feel this place is for you. This a writer's hotel, an artist's hotel; I met some rather interesting folks here in the past. I am looking forward to coming here again with my boyfriend for a romantic getaway post-pandemic. I have heard concerns about the safety on-site, but most of the houseless folx are content to keep to themselves until the current crisis comes to an end. I had an amazing time at The Hoxton and look forward to being there again after the pandemic is over (or perhaps sooner). PS. I'm still hoping to find the Blank body wash on sale soon! Come thru Hox!…
Location was good for us-- we had a car that was parked in the carpark across the street so we could easily go out, but it was also super close to walk to Powell's city of books, Voodoo donuts, and some other cute coffee/bubble tea places. One thing to note is that if you do drive, you will have to pay for parking. It was like $12 overnight and we added an extra $3 in the morning for another hour. The ambiance was the highlight of this hotel. The plants in the lobby looked like perfect specimens (looked so good I thought they were fake to be honest) and has a houseplant/rare plant enthusiast, I spent a good 10 minutes wandering around the dining area and lobby looking at the plants. They have a wall of cute local goodies and the entire hotel had a "mismatchy but sophisticated" vibe. The kind people at the front desk informed me that they'd open up the roof soon, and there were many more plants I could look at up there. Some in the lobby were for sale for not a bad price. If you are also really into houseplants, I highly suggest staying here. It gives a wonderful atmosphere to start and end each day you are in Portland. With COVID, there was a waiver we had to fill out with clean/dirty pen bins, hand sanitizer was everywhere, and everyone we saw was wearing a mask. They allow you to eat in the dining area (without masks) but most people seemed reasonable and spread out. Lastly, they are extremely friendly and generous. We originally booked the stay for Valentine's day weekend, but due to the snow, couldn't get down to Portland. They allowed us to reschedule for the next weekend with no issues at all (thank you Tommy!). The stay we picked also gave us $25 voucher to use at their cafe/front desk drinks, which was more than enough for a breakfast for two. (Highly suggest their matcha latte, it was pretty high quality for not specializing in matcha!) When we arrived, they had upgraded our room, which was a nice bonus!…
