Wow! This place is perfect, I’d rate higher if I could! We stayed for 4 nights while in town for my sister wedding. The check in was easy and the staff here could not be more helpful! The room was HUGE with a full kitchenette and comfy TV chair. Bed was lovely and comfy and air con was amazing. Shower was great with good pressure and the room was spotless. We had family staying in Portland in some of the more expensive hotels and it was agreed that we’d all book here next time rather than the main hotels downtown. This was better for shopping at the Cascade station. We were also just 5 mins back to the airport Thanks for a great stay, we will be back!!!
When we first drove up to this property, it did not look like the picture (I think that is a stock photo.) It was hard to tell where the front and where the back of the property was. The main door was a little door with no car port. It was kind of dark and creepy. The parking lot was very cramped so our first impression was kind of apprehensive. But the check in process was very easy and the staff made a point of greeting us every time we left or came back. The actual room was fine and there was a spacious laundry room and work-out room. Other pros and cons...Pros: Very convenient to airport. Comfy beds and pillows. Spacious room with desk that wrapped around a little. We were on Floor 5 with beautiful view of Mt. Hood/sunrise. Kitchenette was handy. They had a borrowing locker so you could borrow things like small appliances (I saw an air fryer) and board games. It was super quiet except for planes which we expect. It was a quick drive to places we needed to go to. The price was reasonable. Cons: Hardly any outlets. There was this big long desk with one outlet underneath the desk. Only one outlet at bedside and no usb ports. Microwave made a large noise (made me wonder if I was zapping myself!) No pool which would have been nice for granddaughter. No tissues and housekeeping only once a week. We go to Portland twice a year so we will seriously consider staying here again.…
skimpy, nothing extra but charges that I'm still trying to get off my credit card. no kleenex, single ply TP, no towel racks, noisy broke down fridge, charged twice for $50 damage fee and only one charge was reversed. still disputing that one.
I am an IHG member and always try to stay at the Candlewood hotels. We made our yearly reservation at the Candlewood Portland airport a month ago and paid for a suite with two queen beds. When we arrived, we had been downgraded to a room with only one queen bed. On top of that, they insisted that my reservation was not refundable. After much discussion they agreed to cancel my reservation and we ended up staying at the Hampton Inn and Suites, which is a better hotel anyway. But I lost the good rate that i had secured by booking in advance. Needless to say, that is the last stay I will ever have at the IHG Chain and Candlewood in particular. I am very surprised that Candlewood would willingly let a long standing relationship go, but obviously they do not value that relationship.…
I stayed at this Hotel while traveling for business and I would highly recommend this Hotel. The room was comfortable and I really enjoyed having the full kitchen. This made it much more comfortable for the longer stay. I was able too cook my own meals and check out some appliances from the lobby during my stay. Location was also great for nearby restaurants and shopping. Cascade station is within 5 mins and there were great dinning options. Housekeeping did great weekly cleans and everyone at the front desk was very kind.
This hotel is literally running a complete scam and stealing money from their guest. They charge your card for incidentals and upon check out they say that you damaged their towels. I didn't even use any of their towels, and once I seen the scam they were running I returned the UNUSED clean towels to the "co owner" Sharon who signed for each towel that i returned. I had 3 towels left in the room a brown dish towel and bath towel that I used to lay my clothes on. Upon checking out I returned the towels to the front desk and had the attendant sign for them. I look at my CC statement and my deposit was not returned. I called the hotel and spoke to Ashley the Ast. General Manager that didn't have time to talk to me because she was over due for getting off the clock. I advised her that I had pictures of the towels and I wanted my money NOW. She said there needed to be an investigation. I asked her to get the copy of the paper that was signed by the co owner and refund my money she said she couldn't do that. She said she needed to speak to housekeeping that cleaned my room. Well housekeeping never came in contact with the towels. Besides i have a document signed that i return the towels to the co owner. I left the room clean meticulously. I mopped the floor, wiped the inside of the fridge and freezer, took down my shower curtain, mopped the bathroom floor, removed linen from the bed and left in a nice neat pile. Well it was removed the first day i got there because I have my own. I even wiped down the dressers, tables and tv stand and even ran the dishwasher even though I never used any of the dishes. I left NOTHING dirty. My coworkers even came to my room and spoke of how clean my room was. If the white towels are in fact dirty it is most likely from the NASTY BROWN water coming from the faucet and was done after the clean towels were signed for. When I reported this I was advised to let the water run for 20-30 mins which I did and still had brown water after the running. This same scam was ran on other ppl that I know that was staying there as well. I asked for the pictures of the towels that were dirty and they could not provide them until after the investigation. This is the absolute worst hotel ever. The laundry is free but the machine leaves stains on your clothes and the dryer is older than dirt and takes 2 hours. The walls are paper thin and you hear EVERYTHING in the room next door. They lock the front door at dust and you need to use your key to open the door even though it say doors lock and 10 or 11pm. They say there is security but all the many cars in the parking lot were robbed, many windows on cars were broken out on another day, but instead of security they lock you out. Oh and lets not talk about the fact they the hotel does well being checks if the housekeepers don't clean your room. They ramble through your belonging and leave an not in the door that they were there. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL! The will steal your money and not keep your safety as a priority.…
We got an ideal room and everything worked well. One issue came up and the hotel and staff dealt with it as well as I can imagine--and I am in hotels a very lot. Laundry a real savior, and all worked well, no cost. Good location. Internet was fine. Will be back, and very thankful for the help we got. Special thanks to Sharon & Katie & Ashley, who helped us out a lot. And to others on the staff of course. A great team.
Great service!! The hotel is clean. Park on the front side of the hotel. Great free laundry room. Pretty close to the PDX Airport. If you have a dog there was a large grassy area. We will return if EVER in the area!!
Did not realize they reserved the right to sell my information. Also there seems to be a judgement towards certain categories of people. This is very upsetting because the entire vist was amazing!! Until meeting the manager of the hotel. She at first seemed concerned be this quickly turned to a very intrusive and space invading experience. Did not feel comfortable for the rest of the stay after this encounter. Will not disclose anymore information about this incident due to feeling my safety is at risk. To top it off a rash appeared after the first night.
We normally stay at Hilton properties ourselves but as our boss is a IHG guy and is paying for our stay we ended up at the Candlewood Suites. I wasn’t too thrilled with the idea at first but they have sure changed my mind at this location. Sure, it’s not the most modern, the lounge chair in the room is about to fall apart, but the room, hotel and grounds are kept up very well and are clean! Also they’ve gone above and beyond to accommodate us as we’ve had to extend our stay multiple times due to our truck being in the shop much longer than anticipated and they’ve managed to continue to upgrade us even though we know it’s been very hard on them (availability) to do so. So we want to let you all know how much we appreciate you guys and especially Jacob, Brandon, Jane and Molly have been amazing! Another thing I frequently noticed was the man who runs the shuttle a lot, I think he’s originally from Cuba and I only mention this because I don’t know his name but want to make sure he’s not forgotten, I’ve seen him out every time to pick up trash from the grounds people don’t bother putting in the many ashtrays and garbage cans they have around the hotel. To me that shows a level of pride and care in your job! And he’s been out and about while it’s still dark in the morning to do this! We will definitely come back here when in the Portland area! Thanks so much Jacob and staff!…
