From valet parking to check in. From breakfast to reception the team at the Benson exceeded my expectations at every point. They really went above and beyond for any aspect, being restaurant recommendations or any assistance with room or luggage. Definitely the best service during my trip across the Pacific North West
We selected The Benson for our getaway, as we were able to use timeshare points through RCI. Although downtown Portland is definitely still struggling to recover from the past year plus of pandemic and social unrest, the staff at The Benson are definitely maintaining the welcoming atmosphere and level of service Mr. Simon Benson would have expected. This beautiful building is a site to behold, and has many lovely touches to be enjoyed, including the "Historic Stairwell" that was fun to visit. The Palm Court Restaurant was not yet open, but Linda provided us with our satisfactory Grab & Go breakfast each morning, and there's a great kiosk across the street, Oak Street Coffee, if you want a latte or other espresso beverage rather than brewed coffee in the lobby. Many places to visit are within walking distance, including Powell's City of Books, Stumptown Coffee Roasters and the waterfront. Portland also has a pretty nice public transit system, which includes light rail that will transport you between airport and hotel for $2.50 - just keep in mind it's about a 45-minute ride.…
We stayed here 2 nights and it was the best! The staff were incredibly nice and accommodating. The food was a bit pricey yet tasted great! The others guests were kind. The location is right on the Red Line and perfect for sightseeing! Best hotel I've stayed in, period. Will stay here again when in Portland
My husband and I shared a wonderful weekend at the Benson Hotel. The Benson is in walking distance to all that Portland has to offer. A classic beauty. A special shout out to our lovely, friendly and kind waiter John who has been at the Benson for 43 years. A true treasure and an excellent host. He felt like an old friend. Highly recommended this hotel!
John and the other staff in the bar were amazing! He’s worked at the Benson for a very long time and had just the best stories. My husband and I could have chatted him up for hours! The food is also quite excellent. Fresh apricot preserves for toast? Um, I think so. Rooms were nice (nothing extravagant) and cozy. View of downtown was a nice touch for us suburbanites. This is officially our go to anniversary spot, now. Along with reservations for dinner at El Gaucho!
Staff at The Benson are just nice. They are so helpful, responsive and cheerful. The food is really good, and we were lucky to be served breakfast by Bobby one morning. He’s been there 40 years and was so knowledgeable and interesting about the hotel, it was great His recommendations for French Toast and the Omelette, went down well Dinner on the night we arrived was lovely, again with great staff. The Beef Rib was phenomenal as was the Wagyu Burger Finally a call out to the receptionist who booked us in, massively helpful and informative The Benson is literally a 5 minute walk from Powell’s, the biggest bookshop in the World. Great food and books, what else is there?
Young blond woman who checked us in was incredibly friendly and kind. She set the tone and a very positive first impression. Hotel is beautiful and room was spacious. People out and about walking however I would recommend being on guard if out in the evening. We walked to the Mothers restaurant for dinner and within one block there were addicts tripping on their drug of choice and mentally ill acting erratically. Sad given there are a lot of great places within walking distance of the hotel,
The Benson in Portland, amazing stay and service, quality was that of top Hilton hotels; the food was excellent, I was recommended an amazing meal by Bobby, a guy you must see for good food and things to do around the area, well informed about the city, a must stay at Hotel when coming to Portland.
What a charming hotel. Tons of character, great friendly and attentive service. We stayed here for a couple of nights on a road trip they northwest US. This is surely a lovely place to sleep and eat. The stay at the hotel restaurant was super friendly. Breakfast was super, and again the staff made it even better.
Unfortunately this hotel is really not in a great location. It’s pretty unsafe to walk anywhere from the hotel, even in broad daylight. Was extra disconcerting to hear of a shooting last night literally one block away.
