Reviewed yesterday NEW

we always stop here on our annual trek south. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and the views are stunning. Beds are comfortable. They are pet friendly. The price is very reasonable for such a great location within walking distance of a great bakery/coffee and the always good Georgie's Restaurant. Steps from the beach

November is a quiet time to visit. The Whaler is conveniently located by the ocean and the historical district. It's a Monday evening not many guests which makes it peaceful for us. The fireplace makes the room cozy and the bed comfy.

My husband and I both seniors have never done this before. We stayed 5 nights on the top floor, balcony facing beach, fireplace, king size bed, indoor pool, hot tub. It was within walking distance of beach, restaurants, shopping, many other en joyable things to do. I stayed in the room serveral days because of health reasons and was so... More

We stayed for two nights in the small cottages. While they are older the are cozy with wood burning fireplaces full kitchen laundry. Units one or two bathrooms and two or 3 bedrooms ideal for families. Beautiful views beach across the street Nye beach district a block away and highway one maybe 4 blocks. Not fancy but charming and lovely... More

What a great value! Old school motel with everything you need. Really loved the high pressure shower head too! I mean really really loved that!! Bed on the soft side, pillows lower quality, sheets a little scratchy but the views and balcony and the nonstop sound of the crashing ocean waves made up for the minor imperfections BIG time. I... Immaculate room overlooking the Pacific, with a view of Yaquina lighthouse in the distance. Staff couldn't have been nicer. This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations in all regards. I don't think you could do better in Newport at any price.

We were visiting Newport on our Pacific Northwest road trip. We are so happy we chose to stay here. It was a rainy evening and we were very tired. The folks at the desk were very accommodating and we were able to upgrade to a higher floor ($10 more but totally worth it). The room was large and clean. The... More

Nice location across the street from the beach. The rooms were very clean. The people at the front desk were nice. They have a breakfast that was adequate. Centrally located - Close to the beach and harbor.

We visited this past weekend on a whim and loved staying here overnight. The service was excellent, the oceanfront room was great. Location is outstanding, near Nye Beach establishments and a relatively short walk to the old bayfront district. It may look a bit dated, but it is a great place. Will go back soon.

When I go to the beach, I want a view, a good view. The Whaler has it with a nice balcony. We were on the top, third, floor. there is an elevator - yea! Room is spacious, clean, nothing lacking. We spent four nights. There's nothing special to say, but for the price it's an excellent choice. Only thing that... More
