We have stayed here two different times - in May and Sept 2016. We love that there are only 3 places to stay here. We sit on the porch of our room and watch the travelers stop for gas, and drive on. And the birds in the oasis across the road. We love the Steens Mountain area, and this gives...

Great people. Good food - but get there by 3:30 pm for "dinner" because the grill closes at 4:00 pm. Motel with private bath. Fascinating people watching at this former stage coach stop near the Nevada border.

Face it. You have to be part desperado, poet, and Hank Stamper ‘don’t give an inch’ stubborn. This oasis in the heart of Oregon’s desert outback has more characters dropping in and out than a Tom Robbins novel. While the awesome ‘made-from-scratch’ milkshakes sweeten the experience, it’s the fact that it’s the ONLY place to fill up, grab some grub,...

We have been coming to Fields Station for many decades and through a series of long time owners, most who've lived and worked in Harney county for generations. Fields Station is an oasis of welcome in a sea of Oregon frontier with the Steens Mountains to the Northeast, the Pueblos to the south and true eastern Oregon ranching hospitality. The...

This place has a reputation for great burgers and milkshakes. The burgers were simply frozen patties and the shakes were a large cup of swirled ice cream ... really not a milk shake. And our waitress was pissed off because a member of our party came in late and ordered after we did.

I went there last year on a bike ride. We got caught in a storm and while they had no rooms, the owner said we could stay under the room of the construction that was going on. She was awesome! We got there just in time for the burgers and shake. Get there early (4:00, I think, is when the...

I have been through several times over the years. This year we stayed close by but camped. Had breakfast and dinner here a couple of times. They have beer on tap. This is what brings me out here. Staff are authentic. I look forward to my next several trips to fields station and hope to stay there in the near...

We stopped by to get gas and chat with the locals. had a world famous milk shake (she sold 6000 + last year). Fun place to stop and a great milk shake. Bought a few groceries and continued on up to Alvord hot spring, our destination. Not much out here in this corner of SE Oregon. Wide open spaces and...

Great little motel, we have stayed twice while riding our motorcycle. Clean LARGE rooms! After a yummy burger and shake it was great to spend the night. Great staff. Once the staff are done for the day - they leave and you are alone!

We slid in just in time. Food can only be ordered until 4:00 pm. We started ordering right on the dot when the cook came out and announced food preparation was over. But then she relented. The famous milkshakes can be ordered until 5:00 however We stayed at the very basic and very small motel. But it has bathrooms ins...
