Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved everything about our stay at the Hayward Inn. It is conveniently located across the street from the University of Oregon. The front desk staff was pleasant and welcoming and checkin was efficient. Our room had a lovely patio with a view of the river. Everything was clean. There were two sinks - one in the bathroom and one outside the bathroom. There were an abundance of complimentary toiletries. The room was well appointed and esthetically pleasant. The bed was comfortable. The building was quiet. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we had on a long road trip along I-5. There were several hot food choices in addition to the other standard fare. The breakfast room was spacious and bright. We were in town for an event at the University of Oregon. We would stay at the Hayward Inn again in a heartbeat.

Had reservations for one week stay. Showed up prior to the 4pm check in and was told to come back at 4. Had a bite to eat and arrived back at 4. No room yet, please wait in lounge.....no room until 5:45pm. Was told lack of house keeping staff. That went on for days. Had to beg for towels and coffee. Finally on day 5 they finally serviced our room. The room was clean. The breakfast was a joke. Fake omelets, greasy bacon, cold biscuits and gravy.

We booked this hotel for a one night stay and found it perfectly acceptable. We were in the older units, 2nd floor and were told they had all been recently remodeled. The only 2 issues we had were no nightstand lights which made the room dark and a smoke detector that was placed too close to the bathroom and went off from the steam after showering. Breakfast was good with plenty of tables spaced far apart. We would return if we are ever back in the area.

My family, wife, daughter-in-law, two grandsons, and myself arrived at Hayward Inn of Eugene, Oregon on July 2, 2022 at 4:00. My daughter-in-law had booked two rooms months ago. We were told the rooms were not ready, yet. We went to eat, drive around, and stop in a Target before returning, we were told one of our rooms was ready , but the other wasn’t. At 8:00 it still wasn’t ready. Around 8:15 we finally got in our room. Throughout this time several other people came in and were told rooms weren’t ready. There was only one clerk trying to check everyone in and were told there was no manager to talk to. This during the 4th of July weekend. This is no way to treat customers. I think everyone should know how this hotel does business. The rooms were great when we finally got in, but 4 hours is too long to have to wait for a check-in.

This is a clean, modern hotel with a helpful staff and excellent breakfast, BUT the hotel's designer (at least for the main building in the front) seemed to focus on form over function. In particular, it seems that little attention was paid to sound-proofing, either between floors or from outside. I was awakened in the middle of two nights out of four, once by a noisy room above and once by street noise. It even seemed like the guest room windows were single-pane, which is ridiculous both for energy and noise. Other minor issues: though guests are provided with multiple large towels, the bathroom had only one small towel rod. And my wife disliked the sliding bathroom door that didn't really close off that room. There are apparently other buildings in the rear, but we know nothing of them. In summary, this hotel is a mixed bag: nice in many ways but don't expect quiet, especially if you have a room near Franklin Blvd.

If you are coming into Eugene for an event at the Mathew Knight Arena and are spending the night in Eugene this probably is what you will want. Directly across the boulevard from the M K Arena. Exceptionally clean and spacious rooms. Nice hot free breakfast. Pizza parlor right next door. Short distance from either downtown Eugene or downtown Springfield.

First the good: Location. If you want to be near the campus, or if you're attending an event at the Matthew Knight Arena, you cannot choose a better place. Literally, right across the street. Another positive: The rooms, even the ones in the older buildings, seemed very clean and recently refreshed. The property consists of three buildings. The one at the forefront, where the lobby check in is located, appears to be brand new. The other two buildings in the rear, look older. But, as advertised, the interiors seemed to be recently renovated. So this was appreciated. The not so good: Service at check in. When I arrived, the front desk was empty. Not a huge deal. After about 4 or 5 minutes, the check-in agent returned. But she was clearly still dealing with another party's reservation situation. In fact, this other party returned to the lobby area when she did. While she was checking me in, she kept switching between me and them, conversing with us both, back and forth. Suggestion: give one party your full attention. Don't be distracted, going back and forth. You did neither of us a service doing this. Probably because of this distraction, the check-in agent never informed me of where breakfast would be served, let alone if there even was an included breakfast (there was). She never informed me of any other amenities, such as information about the pool or gym, or even where they were located. And lastly, after I walked out of the office towards my car, it dawned on me that she didn't even tell me which building my room was in. I had to circle back to ask "what building am I in"? All of the above were admittedly small things, not insurmountable. But come on.....regardless of age, or tenure in the hospitality business, you'd think that the simple things like "this is where your room is located, this is where the breakfast room is, etc" would be common sense. Maybe just an off-day? Finally, we had no issues with the stairs. But for those with mobility issues, this is potentially huge, and something to be aware of. Our building consisted of three stories. Our room was on the top floor. No elevator. Even with not having mobility issues, schlepping luggage up three stories is no fun. If you do have mobility issues, this could be a deal breaker. And no, the check-in agent never mentioned this, nor inquired if anyone in my party had mobility issues. Again, service was lacking.

Close to the River Walk and right cross the street from Matthew Knight Arena, the Hayward Inn was the perfect location for our Eugene stay! As an added bonus, Track Town Pizza is right next door. Enjoyed the pool as well :)

I stayed at the Hayward Inn to see Phish directly across the street at Matthew Knight Arena. The hotel was spotless, felt really safe, and the staff was super friendly and had Phish through the speakers the whole time. My only suggestion is that the wifi could be stronger; I had to work during the day and the Internet was spotty.
