A note from Surfrider Resort
Updated 02/06/20

#2 of 4 hotels in Depoe Bay
The Surfrider Resort is nestled atop a bluff overlooking Fogarty Creek and the Pacific Ocean, located just two miles north of Depoe Bay, between Lincoln City and Newport. While at the Surfrider, visit Depoe Bay, the world's "Smallest Harbor" famous for whale watching or reserve a trip for deep sea fishing. Visit Newport for the outstanding Oregon Coast Aquarium, Ripley's Believe it or Not and the wax Museum. We are within a few miles of golfing, kayaking and waterfall hiking trails. There is no need to leave the Surfrider at all to simply watch the resident pod of whales play, eagles soar, seals nap, and the sun sets over the ocean from the comfort of your room or the restaurant and bar. The beach access takes you down to search for agates, make a beach fire and watch the waves crash into the unique rocky outcropping. We have banquet rooms that can hold up to 80 people and full catering available for weddings, birthdays and special events.

No where near as nice as the pictures show. Staff was friendly but hotel is really run down. Linoleum floors, yuck! Location is nice and rooms have ocean views, but this "resort" is not worth the price. This was the most expensive hotel on our trip and the lowest quality by a wide margin.

Definitely not a resort. It's a mediocre Comfort Inn at best. Not a Clarion. However, I'll give credit where its due: PRO: Room looked newly remodeled. Fell a tad short. Fabulous view from balcony. Beautiful Bed was comfortable. Refrigerator icy cold HD TV good. Clean for fair hotel Pool was open Bar/restaurant on cliff was open CON: NO WINDOW SCREENS, AND NO A/C NOISY as heck from door slamming and thin walls SLIPPERY sticky laminate from cleaner or polish; the entire 3 days. Almost fell twice getting on and off john. BE CAREFUL ICK factor: high, no coat of paint can hide run down. Noisy plumbing, noisy bathroom vent. Fireplace pilot light added heat to room. Pedestal sink against drywall with no backsplash. Covid restrictions really don't reflect the over reaching use of the word resort. Granted gym, fire pit, conference room closed, the place was barely passing for hotel, yet alone a resort. Not a resort vibe at all. I've been to a few in my life. Fair to poor at best. I would not stay here again.l, no matter how great the balcony was.

My husband and I spent our 20th anniversary at the resort in Depot Bay. We love the area and this upper room had a great ocean view from the deck off our room, Room was clean and staff was welcoming and helpful! We were able to find our way to the beach easily, just a short walk from the resort.

Choice Hotels is running this property into the ground. While the views and the beach are outstanding, the rooms and furniture are old, run down, and in desperate need of renovation. The bathroom fixtures were temperamental and the water ran brown for a few seconds until clear. Blankets received for sofa bed were covered with hair from other guests. The tv wasn't working and I had to hook it up myself. The hotel photos were an inaccurate representation of the actual rooms so keep expectations low. We had a first floor room and could hear the guests upstairs walking around on creaky floorboards at all hours. With the views and beach access this hotel charges a lot of money, but you can get better value nearby with newer, more upscale properties.
