The Surfrider Resort is nestled atop a bluff overlooking Fogarty Creek and the Pacific Ocean, located just two miles north of Depoe Bay, between Lincoln City and Newport. While at the Surfrider, visit Depoe Bay, the world's "Smallest Harbor" famous for whale watching or reserve a trip for deep sea fishing. Visit Newport for the outstanding Oregon Coast Aquarium, Ripley's Believe it or Not and the wax Museum. We are within a few miles of golfing, kayaking and waterfall hiking trails. There is no need to leave the Surfrider at all to simply watch the resident pod of whales play, eagles soar, seals nap, and the sun sets over the ocean from the comfort of your room or the restaurant and bar. The beach access takes you down to search for agates, make a beach fire and watch the waves crash into the unique rocky outcropping. We have banquet rooms that can hold up to 80 people and full catering available for weddings, birthdays and special events.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The keycards wouldn't work, this was a first for us. The space heater was covered in rust and so was the inside lock going to a run-down deck. In fact, you couldn't access the deck area at all because the rusty lock and old door were jammed. The young man at the front desk wasn't interested enough to even stand up, he remained seated and offered one option - a refund. He told me "I wouldn't know because I don't go to those rooms". I have worked in retail for 43 years and have never seen anything like this from an employee. We booked this place 2 months in advance but left quickly with no idea where we were going to end up after driving for hours. Fortunately, we got a spotless room in another town the same evening with working keycards, a beautiful ocean deck, and great customer service. I agree with the last review left before mine!

Property is so run down. Landscaping not kept up. Rooms are musty and moldy smelling. Looks like they tried a simple remodel, but not done well. could not take a bath as the water just dribbled out of it. The shower was slightly better, but still so slow it took forever just to get the soap off of me. Rude service people at the front desk, both on check in and check out. When I explained about the water problem, they just said well its an older property and sometimes we have problems. thats it! the only good thing was the beach view, though you could not get down to it Don't waste your time with this place, there are so many really nice looking places right on the beach. This should be knocked down and started again from scratch. We left after one night, could not wait to leave

Very nice hotel for the price. Stayed in building 3 with a ocean view. Nice little porch with chairs to sit out and listen to the ocean. You can even rent movies and board game. Didn't use the fireplace. Only bad thing was a little out of town.

Amazing views, large rooms, and super friendly employees. Will definitely stay here again. Bonus they are dog friendly! Lots of great seafood places to eat nearby. Be sure to stop by Depoe Bay for whale watching!

This property is old and has paper thin walls. I have never stayed in a hotel where I heard every footstep and cough above me. Great location but book only the top floor unless you want to experience someone else’s vacation.

Our room had a wonderful ocean view, bed was super comfortable and a short walk to the beach! We ate in the bar one night and food was great! Lots of locals hanging there so we made a few new friends! I think the best part was the dvd wall in lobby for free so that brought us back a few years! Kurig coffee pot in the room made me super happy! We ll definitely stay here again if we come back!!

Great location, nice rooms. Customer service is awful! The first time in my life I was asked to leave a hotel because the general manager said my son was been too loud when playing with his dad and my dog barked a couple of times. (this was in the afternoon) the way she approached the situation was.. suddenly open my hotel room door and another guy came from the balcony and enter the back door and told us you have 30 minutes to leave ! she should of work for the FBI with that kind of procedures. I am still in shock! so definitively not a kids or dogs friendly hotel. BE AWARE.

This place has a beautiful view from the oceanfront balconies. However so much else was wrong that I'd give it only one green circle. Frankly I'd give it zero if I could. Upon checking in I was told that the restaurant was closed for "maintenance issues". So I proceeded up to my room. The toilet seat was loose and was not the right size for the toilet . I went out on the balcony to watch the ocean and take some pictures. Garbage was next to the balcony chair and tucked in the corner. Yuck! So I decided to follow the signs around the property down to the beach. At the bottom of the stairs (which of course needed work) was a huge pile of loose garbage. Again, yuck. Later on after I had gone out for dinner I called the front desk to ask for a wake up call. The woman who answered coped a terrible attitude with me and told me that was what the alarm clock next to my bed was for. I politely told her that I hadn't seen any alarm clock but that I would take another look. So I looked again and of course no alarm clock. So I called back and again told her "no alarm clock". So the next morning rolls around and of course no wake up call. Whoever that woman was really needs to be fired for having such a terrible attitude! I had to leave and no front desk help so I gave my cards to a male employee who said he'd give it to them as I couldn't wait any longer to check out!

Great view, the restaurant was convenient and we enjoyed the food and service. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The room was big, clean and comfortable. We recommend this place to anyone. Especially military. They unlike many hitels have a good military rate.
