Since we first stayed at The Chaney Manor a few years ago when we came to visit family, we decided this was the place to stay whenever we come to Mt. Vernon. The manor is filled with books, antique furniture, paintings, all sorts of lovely things to look at and learn about. We've always stayed in the Library. It's our home away from home. Comfortable bed, lovely linens, all the amenities you would want. But Freda brings the warmth and friendliness. She respects your privacy and will do all she can to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast is always delicious, nutritious and sprinkled with elegance. Freda will accommodate all preferences and dietary requirements. She truly enjoys people and sharing information and experiences. We highly recommend a stay to anyone and we bet you'll come back. We do!…
The Chaney Manor is an outstanding B&B located just south of Mt Vernon. It is a restored home first built in 1823 for a gentleman farmer turned early Ohio state representative. The house sits on 6 acres with stately trees, wide lawns, and a stream and pond to relax by. The ethic here is not manicured, but natural and organic. The home is a two story brick affair with three bedrooms for guests; we stayed in the first floor library bedroom which, like the other rooms, is spacious, filled with period pieces (including a working pump organ) as well as hundreds of books (Norman is an English professor at Otterbein College). Freda is a wonderful, friendly hostess who also happens to be a gourmet cook; she has different breakfast options, we had two and both were scrumptious. It was Mother's Day when we were there, and she provided several extras for my wife that really made her feel special. Freda also realized that guests seek privacy, so she is both attentive to needs but stays out of the way, a great quality for B&B hosts. We also enjoyed the Jacuzzi in a beautiful private room. Highly recommended, the price is reasonable for the excellent lodging, food and grounds. Great restaurants nearby as well (we recommend Winestein and The Alcove).…
We spent Friday and Saturday night at The Chaney Manor Bed and Breakfast Inn when in Mt. Vernon, Ohio for a family reunion. The two night stay was delightful and relaxing. The Inn is on route 13, two miles outside downtown Mt. Vernon on six acres in a semi-rural setting. Good location and easy to find. The house was built in 1823 and is on the historic register. Inn owners Freda and Norman have furnished the house with antiques, books and other period furniture which is nicely done. Freda is a very warm, gracious and accomodating host providing personalized breakfasts, a relaxing atmosphere and was sensitive to our schedule and privacy. Our downstairs bedroom was large, well appointed and very comfortable with a modern bathroom. We look forward to a return visit.
What a beautiful and relaxing bed and breakfast. Freda, the owner, has attended to every detail. The house is beautifully decorated and has an amazing number of antiques. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have every amenity you could want. Lovely bedding, relaxing chairs, robes, plenty of towels and even a TV with a selection of DVD's. I was visiting my daughter who is a college student near-by.We stayed in the Cottage Rose Room which is so feminine and comforting. A perfect get away for a stressed college student. The bathroom is large, bright and luxurious. The room is decorated such that you feel you are in a lived in home. Freda fixes yummy gourmet breakfast in an elegant dining room with calming music in the background. It was a real treat to stay at such a beautiful home with such a lovely inn owner.…
You just can't say anything better what the 1st two reviewer wrote down about The Chaney Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn. Indeed it is a wonderful and relaxing place to stay and Freda knows how to make a wonderful breakfast to start your day. We just love to hear her to tell the story about the old inn and she is very warm person and she make sure your stay is very welcome. My wife and I have been staying at the other B&B in the Northeast of US and this place top it all. Stephen Rentz Whitehouse, Ohio
