Not an easy review to write due to conflicting thoughts. On the one hand, this is an immaculately kept hostel with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting area, games, books, and cosy rooms with luxurious electric underblankets. On the other hand, we found the atmosphere very oppressive and uncomfortable. On arriving, one of the staff asked us to bring out...

I can't see how this place passes as a backpackers hostel. Overly expensive, and the owners are not exactly the usual friendly and inviting sort. Quite the opposite. I would say this is a place to stay only if you have to.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We didn't use the cooking facilities and had our own linen, so cannot comment on the additional fees associated with staying here. Our host was friendly enough, but not the usual bubbly youthful receptionist you find at a backpackers. There were very few people staying. The building is large and open...

We all have a very bad night in here, you have to pay for cooking only 20 minutes ,the light will turn off automatically when you taking shower, scary place, everywhere is dark and horrible, never come back again!!

I spent a night early December here, and I was the only person in the whole place. I was charged for linens as described elsewhere, but even including that I got a room just for myself at a fraction of the cost for any other place in the area. I can see why it would be considered expensive by backpacker...

From the outside this quite new and trendy looking hostel was encouraging. Interestingly, this hostel won a HIA design award. However I found (after I checked in) that it totally lacks any form of warmth or cosiness. Theres a lot of dark brown, and bland furnishings. My impression was not helped by the fact there were only a few other people staying...

The hostel itself is very big, spacious, clean and modern. However, the managers were so rude to us when we arrived, I was so appalled and nearly turned around and walked straight out!! Unfortunately it was already late so had nowhere else to go. The rate is very expensive $31 for a bed but $37 if you want a bed...

The room is comfortable albeit smelling rather musty when we first walked in. Assuming it wasn't a busy period. Bed is very comfortable for backpackers standard. Everything is charged including stove which is quite off putting but we didn't use it anyways. Wi fi is a bit slow & considering there is no phone reception anywhere nearby,it's not helping.

Reasonably priced backpackers. Owners are very friendly and a wealth of information about the local area. Right next to a pub, bakery and bottle shop. Good sized kitchen and courtyard. It might be cold walking to the bathroom in winter though! Swansea is a good place to stay if you're planning to visit Maria island the next day.

After 6 days of camping, and in desperate need of a shower (warm one!) We needed to get out of the rain. First we went to Coles Bay however they were all booked out.... After another 30 min drive we came across the backpackers in Swansea, and I have to admit I'm absolutely blown away by this place and customer...
