I am not quite quite sure why some people seem suprised at the age and decor of these cottages?... They are called Strahan COLONIAL cottages... Not MODERN or FUTURISTIC. We found the Police Superintendent's Cottage beautiful and charming. Yes, it is old school, but it is wholesome, honest and rustic. Loved our stay, only tiny request would be to meet...

2 Bedrooms king + king (split into two singles). Great kitchen with everything you will need. Fireplace plus lots of heaters. Cottage is over 100 yrs old and needs all the heaters it can get! Loved it, just up the hill from the wharf and across the road from the IGA.

Stayed here at the end of May and although it was supposed to be a "romantic" getaway we felt like were staying in Grandmas spare room. It was very musty, a smell that lingered with us for the rest of our trip in our clothes. It was also a bit cold, despite having the heater on AND open fire. Plus...

Strahan accomodation is a little more expensive than other areas of Tassie, but it is quite a remote spot that relies on tourism, so most people need to stay 2 or 3 nights to take in Franklin River Cruise and Wilderness Railway trip. We were happy with the unique Church cottage with its many quirky features and conveniences including laundry...

Thoroughly enjoyed our say at the Police Superintendents cottage. A cosy welcoming and enchanting place to stay. Excellent facilities and very close to the waterfront. On a previous trip we stayed at Strahan village but this place is far superior! Nice large rooms, a lovely backyard and very child friendly. Helen the lovely manageress went out of her way to...

I cannot comment on the quality of the property which does sound good and those using it provide good responses. My comment concerns problems I had obtaining a refund for a cancellation. I had booked to stay at these premises for January 2010. When family illness caused me to cancel in October 2009 I could not obtain a refund according...

We stayed in the Police Superintendents Cottage and i have to say it was very cosy, open fire in the lounge which heated most of the cottage and heaters in every other room too. More than enough bathroom linen (which sometimes is lacking in other places i have stayed) not to mention more than one tea towel in the kitchen....

From our first encounter with Helen (the manageress) of this beautiful little church, I knew it was going to be an amazing 2 nights. Helen could not do enough for us. We had a MVA at Queenstown on our way through to Stahan and our vehicle was written off. She went out of her way to post notices in the...

We stayed in the Police Superintendant's cottage (built about 1890). Beautifully restored, with lots of period furinture inside. There was even a floppy cloth rabbit in a chair in the bedroom to watch over us. Mod-cons were there too - TV/DVD/microvave etc. Location is a 5 minute walk away from the Gordon River Cruises dock. There is an IGA immediately...
