I have real mixed feelings about this accommodation. We were welcomed on arrival and presented with a glass of wine & a plate of cheese as we were told the history of the building. However our room was in need of a severe makeover. Paper was peeling off the wall, tiles in the bathroom were broken & the bath was...

From the moment we stepped into this charming home we felt very welcome. Peter & Jeanette invited us to the sitting room for cheese & wine. We were booked into the F O Henry room. Absolutely gorgeous especially as we have never slept in a 4 poster before. We were told the wonderful history of the area & the house....

We stayed at this B&B overnight whilst visiting Strahan. The owner met us with cheese, biscuits, drinks and lots of wonderful stories about the history of the beautifully renovated home. Our room was lovely and clean. After a good nights sleep we were treated to a good breakfast. The Manager sat down and chatted with us too about our trip so...

Amazing how this lovely restored mansion felt upon stepping in. Felt homely and full of character. But it was the friendly and superb hosting by Carol that lend that extra touch to the experience of staying here. Room is spacious, generous storage in the cabinets made with quality wood, coffee/tea making tray with biscuits, TV, etc. You will feel right...

Ormiston House is steeped in history and most of it is readily available on the net. Basically it was the family home of Fred Ormiston Henry who is credited as Mr Strahan having started trading there when it was no more than a fishing village. That's the good bit...unfortunately the property needs a bit of cash spent on bringing it...

Staying several nights in this grand old lady was wonderful. New owners are working hard to bring her back close to her glory days, and are delightful hosts to boot. Any old historically significant house will have its own foibles, but that adds to the charm. If you want pristine perfection then go for a 5 star cookie cutter hotel...

Now under new management so no cookies or muffins on offer any more! Breakfast is VERY limited and poor quality. All facilities are past their best. I would not recommend this place. Not worth the money.

The new owners had only taken over on 10th December 2016 and were away attending a family funeral when we were there. The housekeeper was keeping things going. The house is pretty and so should be the garden but clearly there had been no gardener for a while. And the house was a bit shabby indicating the old owners had...
