The director was not very friendly. That guy was all the time angry and sometimes a bit rude... the backpack is beautiful however you do not really enjoy your stay because of him. It was very expensive as well !!

We booked in for the camping side of this where for $25 each, my partner and I received a tent, two sleeping bags, two mats and a huge water container, then for a further $2 we got a torch! Paul greeted us promptly at the site and the handover of kit was quick and he gave a detailed insight into...

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at St Helens Backpackers. A great base for exploring the impressive Bay of Fires region. Paul the Manager runs a neat and friendly hostel and is a great source of local knowledge. Would recommend this place.

The private accommodation with ensuite was both pleasant and affordable. Located close to all that St. Helens has to offer, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable bolthole whilst on the NE coast. The owner also offers camping gear hire at reasonable prices. We hired a tent and did a few nights in the Bay of...

I had a lovely double room for $80 which was good value. The hostel is a beautiful building and is right on the main street so you can walk around the town easily, which was lovely (St Helens was much bigger than I imagined and had a whole range of shops). I drove up to the Bay of Fires after...

We were given a family room with ensuite for the three of us for the price of three dorm beds, which was very friendly and much appreciated, as one of us was feeling ill. Room and bathroom were clean and spacious. We were able to leave the car a little longer after checkout, and when we returned to it, we...

Now I'm travelling more than 20 years in Australia and NZ and I stayed in many YHA, BBH and other hostels. I can say that this hostel is one of the best in Australia and Tasmania. It is near to the "Bay of Fire", a highlight when travelling in Tasmania: Wonderful coastline, excellent beaches and a big variety of coastal...

The rooms are clean and well maintained with adequete bedding. There is free WiFi from 4-8 which is fine because you don't want to waste you time in St. Helens in a hostel when there is the Bay of Fires. Paul plays a movie every night at 19:00 and there is a cabinet full of books if that's not your...

I stayed in this Hostel with my Mum for 2 nights in November 2014. We shared the family room which was quiet enough space for the 2 of us. And the price was unbeaten cheap. I rate the Hostel anyway only 3 out of 5 because 5 does mean excellent. Unfortunatly there are some critics I would request for an...

I'm a bit surprised at the negative reviews for this place as we had a twin/double ensuite room, very basic, but clean and spacious - excellent value for $70. There were a few tiles loose in the bathroom, but I don't consider this unusual for a hostel. The kitchen and dining room were kept clean and we were able to...
