From arrival to checkout, my stay at The Madsen was everything you expect from a boutique hotel – warm, personal, cosy and well-appointed. To hear the waves on the beach directly opposite my room (apartment 1) was wonderful. Already looking forward to my next stay!
Stayed in the top front room (closest to road but with views of the ocean) overnight. Lovely (small but practical) room. Very clean. Simple but nice breakfast to have with the Penguin beach view. Great location. Lovely owners.
My wife and I stayed at the Madsen for only one night, unfortunately. We were warmly welcomed by Nanda who was looking after the place with her sister for their brother. Nanda had travelled from Canada and her sister France to help out. The service...More

I'd suggest you prebook a hire car from your favourite hire car company (I like Avis)
From Devonport airport, it would be about a 35 to 40minute easy drive. It is 5 minutes from the airport to the Bass Highway (Highway 1), half and hour along the highway and then 2 minutes to find The Madsen on the esplanade.
We loved our stay, but you could read about that with our review :-)
Quaint town to visit, lots of things to do in the area.... have fun and enjoy!
