We didn't stay in any of the accommodation, but just visited the property, did a tour of the house and later had lunch in the cafe. It was amazing to be shown the original house and then the adjoining house that was built "later" in the 1840s! Because the property stayed in the same family over many generations, there are...

We stayed in the Gardener's Cottage. Fly screens missing so mozzies and flies a problem. Locks on windows missing. Maintenance on large cracks not done. Cleaner had left their equipment in the middle of the kitchen. Our room was right next to a large building site that wasn't mentioned when we booked. Rose garden severely drought affected and neglected with...

Dear Paul, it is great to receive open and honest feedback regarding your stay at Woolmers Estate. We are planning to make small improvements to Gardeners Cottage in the not to distant future, which will address some of the concerns you mentioned. We are also in an exciting period of building a new Visitors Centre and that is why you...

We booked for 1 night but as soon as we saw our cottage, we booked a 2nd night. The cottage is deligghtful, comfortable and has everything we needed, including a full kitchen. Would be wonderful in winter with a roaring fire. The tour of the main house is a must do. It is terribly interesting. Friendly helpful staff. Glad we...

We stayed 4 nights in Gardeners Cottage at Woolmers Estate. Remember this is a building built in the 1840's so it is not in pristine condition. Everything you need is supplied. This cottage did not have laundry facilities when we stayed. Gardeners cottage is located furthest away from the main building and has country views. As a guest you are...

So do not expect Sheraton glitzy decor or Diwnton Abbey aristocratic styled rooms. Accomodations are in re-converted workers cottage, which had a pretty rough life in the good Old days, judging from a neighbouring one leftv untouched. Ours, set with the others in the magnificent secular compound, had been redecorated in a simple, comfortable, way. Downstairs has been enlarged with...

A beautifully laid out estate that was last lived in 19 years ago and appears to be struggling for maintenance funding. We were charged $26 to walk around the estate ($37) for a guided tour that included seeing inside the house. The gardens were in a state of disrepair in our view and we were told after paying the money...

A Friendly, interesting and knowledgable guides showed us around this amazing home. The homestead is so very much in tact and as it always was. The grounds and buildings are fascinating and the whole experience worth a couple of hours of wandering, reading and viewing. Our house guide was natural and knowledgeable and passionate about the story and history of...

We arrived after hours, and the directions to our accomodation was clear. We were delightfully surprised with heritage listed accomodation with everything we needed for a most comfortable stay. You do need to bring your food and drinks, as there is no shop close by, though the cafe is open during the day. The staff were most helpful and friendly...

It was fascinating to see into every day life of a family whose history carries across the history of Tasmania and who played such an important role in the shaping of Tassie. It tied in all the pieces of history. I strongly recommend doing the tour so you see inside the house, as this brings the past to life.
