Beautiful and breathtaking.... Originally booked for 2021 & delayed due to Covid we finally made it to Kittawa on 4th attempt. (Stayed in early May) Aaron and Nick are exceptional hosts. First phone call with Aaron, through to the numerous emails and few more phone calls to reschedule due to COVID border closures, nothing was too much trouble. They genuinely care about their guests and enjoy sharing their beautiful part of the world with us. We arrived at Kittawa to be greeted by Nick and a platter of beautiful island produce waiting for us for afternoon tea. Nick showed us around our beautifully appointed lodge with exceptional views from the kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom. We were completely mesmerised by the stunning coastal views that are constantly changing with the weather. Aaron and Nick have thought of absolutely everything, even providing boots and weatherproof jackets. All our meals were delicious.Thank you Aaron and Nick for providing us local fresh produce with simple easy to follow recipes. Every day we talk about the beauty of the King Island. Highly recommended. …
It has taken me a week to write this review, wanting to ensure that what I write does justice to the exceptional experience that my husband and I had on our long weekend at Kittawa Lodge. Aaron and Nick are exceptional hosts. From my first phone call with Aaron, through to the numerous emails to reschedule due to COVID border closures, nothing was too much trouble. Aaron and Nick are people people and you can feel that they genuinely care about their guests and enjoy sharing their beautiful part of the world with them. We arrived at Kittawa to be greeted by Nick and a platter of beautiful island produce waiting for us for afternoon tea. As Nick showed us around our beautifully appointed lodge, we kept being drawn back to the exceptional view from our kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom (and the family of wallabies watching us through the windows). The bathroom and bathtub deserves their own mention - beautifully appointed with a stunning view! After being assured by Nick that the wallabies wouldn’t fat shame me while watching me have a shower, it was incredibly liberating to enjoy a hot shower, taking in the incredible view of the ocean. The Lodge has been thoughtfully designed to make the most of the natural environment and Aaron and Nick have taken great care to ensure that they have a low environmental impact whilst harnessing the great things that King Island and Tasmania have to offer. Their attention to detail in every aspect did not go unnoticed (or unappreciated). From gumboots, jackets, robes, slippers and handwritten notes, through to their specially chosen fridge and pantry inclusions that were thoughtfully selected and prepared for the cinnamon hater in our relationship (ie me), it was clear that Aaron and Nick put a lot of time, effort and thought into every aspect of our stay. All of the little things (including the water being topped up every day in the Nespresso machine) add up to one great big positive impression! I would highly recommend the Paddock to Plate package - glorious King Island produce! Fresh lobsters (crayfish), eye fillet steak, wild picked herbs, free range eggs, bacon and cheeses. A perfect picnic lunch to take on our northern Island adventure. Nick’s sticky date pudding definitely deserves it’s own mention - delicious!!! We also had Aaron come and cook dinner for us in our Lodge. Not only was the food delicious (I’m still thinking about that gnocchi!) but Aaron was an entertaining host, sharing information with us about the island, from a local’s perspective. The fact that we didn’t have to get dressed up or drive anywhere for it, made it even better! My husband was also very appreciative of Aaron’s patient fire making training…… it’s all about the kindling. ;-) So what was bad about Kittawa Lodge? Leaving it. Guys, we’ll be back.…
Despite the incredible space Nick and Aaron have created, both in terms of design and execution, what we probably loved the most about our experience here was the pure raw natural beauty of their property, and King Island. It truly is a remarkable place. The accommodation and wonderful hosting has certainly captured the true essence of King Island, enabling you to connect with nature and surrounds to fully absorb your experience. A lot of people have shared images of the wonderfully decorated space, picturesque bathtub and more ... they speak volumes in themselves. We'd like to emphasise the incredible natural surroundings and sensational food, what we believe initially attracted your hosts to the property in the first place. Being a non-drinker, and my wife gluten free, our needs were looked after and their efforts appreciated. Nick and Aaron's attention to detail was appreciated and valued. There are some amazing vistas and experiences just on the property itself, and we highly recommend a sunrise/sunset walk down to the coastline. Take in the amazing ocean, and raw natural beauty in even the smallest details along the coast. You will be blessed. May was a wonderful time to visit for us - we got to experience the drama of the ever changing weather and vista. Pleasant daytime temperatures and nice cool nights to enjoy the fire. We enjoyed the experience of self-cooking with the amazing ingredients/menu sourced locally. We recommend a visit of 3 nights (we only could stay for 2), exploring the dirt roads in a 4WD (not required but much more comfortable), and the drive all the way to the end of Stokes Point. Visiting in off-peak times makes the experience even more enjoyable as you rarely encounter other tourists and it feels like you have the place to yourself. Highly recommend a stay here!…
It was an amazingly good and unique experience staying at Kittawa with hosts Aaron and Nick. Their commitment and passion to ensure that our stay was exceptional shone through continuously. The quality of the accommodation and the location were second to none. All the excellent reviews, and outstanding comments in travel magazines, are true.
We had a beautiful honeymoon at Kittawa. The lodge is spectacularly designed and decorated, and we had some of the best hospitality, service, food and wine we have ever experienced. Everything was amazing, from the big comfy bed, to the bath, to the living spaces. We were able to get lots of rest and relaxation, while also getting out to explore the island. We were spoilt with meals, picnics, and little treats/cakes when we got home from a day out. We were lucky enough to have sunny days, beautiful ocean visits, and we spotted lots of wildlife. It was an experience we will never forget. Highly recommend to all!
