We stayed in a cottage here so we could do the lake walk at Cradle Mountain. The cottages are very comfortable in a bush setting with lots of wildlife including wombats we got close to down the road. Really enjoyed the log fire and cosy atmosphere and the close proximity to the visitor centre and shuttle bus service. Only negative... More

Just wonderful. If there is one reason for me to go back to Tasmania the Highlander Cottages would be the one. I was hesitating if I should book the Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge or this one. But then I thought, why should I stay in a standard/posh hotel if I go all the way to Cradle Mountain? Why not a... More

We revisited Cradle Mountain the second time since 2011 and stayed 1 night in the same Pandini Cottage, which is well maintained, clean and very spacious (goood for 6). It is one of the best places in Tasmania and has so much to do. We were greeted by wild animals at dusk and met them face to face at the... More

We stayed in Tallow wood cottage and loved every aspect of our two night stay. Set in bush with the waratahs in flower. We had pademelons graze outside our windows and a wombat in the driveway. Very comfortable spacious cabin and very well equipped. Plentiful supply of wood for the fire which lit easily. Kitchen well supplied with good quality... More

We stayed 2 nights in Cradle Mountain and stayed at the Telopea cottage at Highlanders. It was just what I would have expected and then some more.Generous sized log cabin. Full Kitchen with plenty of pots/pans and utensils. Large supply of firewood to light the wood heater if you wished. No cost on the wood was great as we have... More

Had the cottages been surrounded by snow, rather than just the few remaining drifts disappearing after a November fall, the storybook cottage impression would have been complete. We stayed in Buttongrass, the high-spec interior of which belies the rustic exterior, complete with luxurious doona cover on the sumptuous queen bed. Even better than expected, I number this amongst my favourite... More

The Highlanders was exactly what we expected.... Cosy, lots of wildlife, quiet, beautiful, and very close to nature. We really felt comfortable with all the creature comforts of home, while in the middle of the beautiful Australian bush. There was plenty of firewood and firelighters provided to get the fire going quick and there were heaters in the bedrooms. We... More

It was such a great and lovely experience staying at the Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages. The lodge was neat and clean, fully-equipped with everything that was needed for a pleasant stay, including wi-fi. It kept us adequately warm too when the weather outside was cold. In the early morning, we had visitors from the wild that came to our doorsteps.... More
